Interview Signal and Hyring Meet both take the notes so the interviewer can listen, but they disagree about where the interview should happen. Hyring Meet (hyring.com) is its own browser-based video platform: you schedule and run the interview in Hyring's room, and its AI records the video, transcribes, scores technical and communication skills, tracks sentiment and flags integrity signals, from $0 to $239 a month billed annually plus one credit per interview, as of October 2026. Interview Signal (interviewersignal.com) is a Windows and macOS desktop app that works beside the call you already use, on Zoom, Teams, Meet or a phone screen through your computer, guides the interview and drafts a scorecard with quotes checked against the transcript, from $49 a month on Solo. Choose Hyring Meet if you control the interview link and want scored, recorded, shareable reports and ATS links; choose Interview Signal if you interview inside other people's meetings or by phone and do not want video or emotion scores stored.

We make Interview Signal. Every fact about Hyring below was checked on hyring.com and Hyring's help desk in October 2026 and is linked. For Hyring Meet on its own, see Hyring Meet for recruiting.

Where does the interview happen?

This is the deciding question. Hyring's FAQ says Meet "is its own virtual interview platform": you schedule the interview, sync it to Google Calendar, send the candidate a link, and the call runs in the browser with nothing to install. Because Hyring owns the room, it can record video, run integrity checks and score answers without a bot.

Interview Signal owns no room. It runs on the interviewer's computer beside Zoom, Teams or Google Meet, labels the microphone as the interviewer and the meeting's sound as the candidate, and adds nothing to the participant list. That matters when someone else sends the link: a client's hiring manager on Teams, a candidate who prefers Meet, a panel on the client's Zoom. Hyring Meet cannot capture those calls; Interview Signal can.

Phone screens split the same way. Interview Signal captures a phone screen run through the computer, for example on a softphone; a call on a mobile that never touches the computer is not captured. Hyring Meet is video in the browser, and Hyring's separate AI Phone Screener runs automated calls rather than ones you make yourself. In person, neither is strong: Interview Signal transcribes a room, but with both voices on one microphone it cannot verify quotes against the candidate, so areas come back "Probe further", scores above 5 are capped and you press Evaluate and add scores yourself. See AI note takers for in-person interviews.

What does each one score, and what does it leave alone?

Hyring Meet scores a lot. Its report carries a technical score per question, a rating per skill, a communication score on fluency, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation, overall sentiment, a sentiment timeline and emotion tracking. Its help article says pronunciation is scored separately from accent; the EEOC's national origin page counts unfavorable treatment "because of ethnicity or accent" as discrimination, so decide how that score is used. Emotion tracking is the bigger issue for EU candidates: the European Commission's guidelines say emotion recognition during recruitment is prohibited (see our EU AI Act guide). Not legal advice.

Interview Signal fills a scorecard as the interview goes, and each score carries the candidate's own quotes, checked against the transcript; a quote that is not in the transcript is removed. It does not score tone, pace, sentiment, emotion or pronunciation. You can press Evaluate to score on demand, and switch on an optional second model (Dual AI).

For technical panels, Hyring's per-question scoring and shared recording are a genuine strength: everyone reviews the same video and the same breakdown. For a recruiter writing to a client, Interview Signal's checked quotes and drafted submittal are closer to the finished product.

How do they handle cheating signals?

Hyring Meet watches the video. It flags tab changes, multiple faces or voices, eye gaze, lip-sync issues and plagiarism, and its help article says flags are shown to you, never reject a candidate automatically, and should be checked against the recording first.

Interview Signal works from the words only. Its private answer check flags answers that read as AI-written or read out, with a question to try next; it never changes a score and never goes in the submittal. It sees no video, so it cannot spot a second face or a wandering gaze. Our guide to AI interview cheating tools explains what each kind of signal can show.

Hyring records every Meet interview on video by default, and its help desk says no per-interview switch to turn recording off is publicly documented. It says Meet supports consent capture at the start of an interview, leaves consent rules to you, keeps recordings for a period set by your plan (Business lists 90 days as its longest), and deletes on request through [email protected].

Interview Signal gives you a read-aloud consent line, notice text by jurisdiction and a one-click pause. It keeps transcripts, quotes, candidate names, notes and submittals on the recruiter's computer; audio goes to a speech-to-text provider in short chunks during the call and is not retained, and the server keeps only counts and durations. The candidate's name and company are sent to the AI model when it writes the submittal, and saved roles and templates are stored on the team account (security details). Our consent script works for either tool.

Which one works with your ATS?

Hyring Meet, on paid plans. Hyring's ATS article says transcripts, scorecards, scores and recordings flow into your ATS, with five core integrations on Pro and 24 plus an API on Business, but it does not list the systems, so ask. Interview Signal has no ATS integration; you copy or export the scorecard and submittal, including notes shaped for Bullhorn, Greenhouse, Lever or JobAdder, and paste them in yourself.

How do the prices compare?

Hyring prices a plan plus credits: 50 credits a month on every plan, one credit per Meet interview, and extra credits from $5 each falling to $1 at volume (pricing). Interview Signal prices time: 20 free minutes, hour packs that never expire, or a subscription (pricing).

SituationHyring MeetInterview Signal

Hyring is cheaper for a small team at modest volume, and its free plan gives far more room to try it. The gap closes as interviews rise, because each one beyond the monthly 50 costs a credit, and resume or phone screening draws on the same pool.

Choose Hyring Meet if / choose Interview Signal if

Choose Hyring Meet if:

  • You send the interview link, and candidates and panels will join Hyring's room.
  • You want video recordings, per-question scores and integrity flags the whole panel can review.
  • You want reports shared with clients by link or PDF, and ATS links on a paid plan.
  • A low entry price for a small team matters more than where the interview happens.

Choose Interview Signal if:

  • Your interviews run on clients' or candidates' Zoom, Teams or Meet, or as phone screens through your computer.
  • You want a question guide and follow-ups while you talk, not only a report afterwards.
  • You do not want video, sentiment, emotion or pronunciation scores stored about candidates.
  • You want transcripts on your own computer and a submittal drafted in your template.

Interview Signal is a newer product with few public reviews and is desktop only, so run both on real interviews before you commit. Other bot-free options are in AI note takers without a bot.

What to test before you decide

1. An interview where the client sends its own Teams or Zoom
link. Can the tool capture it at all?
2. A phone screen on your usual setup.
3. Three quotes or scores against the transcript or recording.
Would you stand behind each one with the candidate?
4. Which scores reach the hiring manager, and which you would
   switch off (pronunciation, sentiment, emotion).
5. How you would delete one candidate's interview on request.

If question 1 fails for most of your week, Hyring Meet is the wrong shape for your work; if you host every interview yourself, its free plan makes it easy to try.

Questions people ask

What is the main difference between Interview Signal and Hyring Meet?

Where the interview happens. Hyring Meet is its own browser video platform, so the interview has to run in Hyring's room, where it is recorded on video, transcribed and scored. Interview Signal is a desktop app that works beside the call you already use, on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet or a phone screen through your computer, and keeps transcripts on your computer.

Which is cheaper, Hyring Meet or Interview Signal?

It depends on team size and volume. As of October 2026 Hyring's Pro plan is $79 a month billed annually for up to five seats with 50 interview credits a month, and its Free plan includes 50 credits a month. Interview Signal's Solo plan is $49 a month or $468 a year for one person, and Team is $49 per seat a month billed yearly with a minimum of three seats.

Does Hyring Meet or Interview Signal detect cheating?

Hyring Meet flags tab changes, multiple faces or voices, eye gaze, lip-sync issues and plagiarism, and shows the flags on the report without rejecting anyone automatically. Interview Signal has a private answer check that flags answers that read as AI-written or read out and suggests a question to try; it never changes a score and never goes in the submittal.

Do Hyring Meet or Interview Signal integrate with an ATS?

Hyring Meet does, as of October 2026: five core ATS integrations on Pro and all 24 plus an API on Business, though Hyring does not name them publicly. Interview Signal has no ATS integration; it produces notes shaped for Bullhorn, Greenhouse, Lever or JobAdder that you paste in by hand.
