The main Granola alternatives for recruiters as of October 2026 are Jamie for a similar bot-free notepad with EU processing, Otter and Fathom for recordings you can replay, Metaview and BrightHire for recruiting structure and applicant tracking system integrations, CoRecruit for staffing agencies, and Interview Signal for a live question guide, an evidence-checked scorecard and a client submittal without a bot. Granola is excellent at turning your own notes into good notes; recruiters usually move on when they need the interview itself to drive the structure, a recording to check, or notes in an ATS.
We make Interview Signal, one of the tools below; everything about the other products comes from their own sites, linked and dated.
What does Granola do well in interviews?
Granola never joins the meeting: it uses your computer's audio on Mac (macOS 14 or later) and Windows 10 or later, with Zoom, Meet, Teams and in-person conversations (granola.ai, Granola setup). It offers optional chat messages and a video watermark so people know it is running, and its Basic plan is free, with Business at $14 per user per month (Granola pricing). Our Granola for interviews review covers setup and a template, and Interview Signal vs Granola compares the two directly.
Why do recruiters look for a Granola alternative?
- The notes follow your typing. Granola fills out what you wrote using the transcript. If you were busy listening, the structure is thin, and two interviewers produce two different shapes of notes.
- No recording to go back to. Granola says it does not store meeting audio (Granola security). That is a privacy plus, but when a candidate's number or claim is disputed, there is nothing to replay.
- No scorecard or submittal. Nothing on Granola's site describes competency ratings with evidence or an agency submittal.
- No ATS. Its integrations are Affinity, Attio, HubSpot, Notion, Slack and Zapier, with Salesforce via Zapier (Granola integrations).
- Phone screens. Phone call notes work on iOS only and only for outbound calls (Granola help).
- History on the free plan. Basic keeps 30 days of notes, shorter than many hiring processes (Granola pricing).

Do you need a recording, or just better notes?
This is the real fork in the road, and it is worth deciding before you compare features. Granola's choice not to keep audio means less candidate data sitting in a vendor's cloud. Tools that keep recordings let you replay the exact words when a client challenges a salary figure or a hiring manager remembers an answer differently.
- Keep no recording: Jamie deletes audio once the transcript is ready (Jamie); Interview Signal does not retain audio and keeps transcripts on your computer.
- Keep a recording: Otter lists audio playback on all plans (Otter); Fathom keeps recordings unless you choose its transcript-only mode (Fathom).
If you keep recordings, set a retention period and stick to it; our guide to keeping interview notes covers how long is usual.
Each alternative, and who it suits
Jamie
Jamie runs on Mac (macOS 14.4 or later) and Windows with no bot, processes audio in the EU and deletes it after transcription, and offers a free plan of 10 notes a month (Jamie pricing). It cannot record phone calls. Best for: recruiters who like Granola's approach but need EU processing.
Otter
Otter keeps audio you can play back, records without a bot from its desktop app, and is inexpensive on yearly billing (Otter pricing). Best for: hiring managers who want to replay answers. See Otter alternatives for its own gaps.
Fathom
Fathom's free plan has unlimited recordings; bot-free capture is live on Mac (Fathom pricing). It does not record phone calls. Best for: hiring managers who want free video recordings of interviews.
Metaview
Metaview is built around recruiting conversations, joins calls as a participant or records without a bot through its Mac and Windows desktop app (Metaview desktop), and lists a long catalogue of applicant tracking systems (Metaview integrations). Best for: recruiting teams that want notes structured the same way for every interviewer.
BrightHire
BrightHire organizes notes around the competencies your team defines and drafts ATS scorecards from them (BrightHire). Prices are not published. Best for: in-house teams running structured, competency-based interviews on Zoom.
CoRecruit
CoRecruit captures Zoom, Teams, Meet, WhatsApp, cell phone and VoIP calls, and describes branded submittals sent directly into your ATS or CRM (CoRecruit). Best for: recruitment and executive search firms.
Interview Signal
Ours keeps Granola's no-bot approach but lets the interview, not your typing, set the structure: a question guide built from the job description with must-ask questions pinned until asked, suggested follow-ups during the call, and a scorecard afterwards where each score carries the candidate's quotes, checked against the transcript. Phone screens work through the computer's audio. Weaknesses: no ATS integration, desktop only with no mobile app, no video recording, few public reviews yet, and it costs more than Granola's Business plan if you subscribe (Solo is $49 a month; pricing). Best for: recruiters who want the same structure on every interview without typing it themselves.
Which Granola alternative fits which recruiter?
| You are | Your main gap with Granola | Start with |
|---|---|---|
| A hiring manager in the EU | Data location | Jamie |
| A hiring manager who gets asked "what exactly did they say?" | No recording to replay | Otter or Fathom |
| An in-house recruiter on Greenhouse, Ashby or Lever | Notes stuck outside the ATS | Metaview or BrightHire |
| An agency recruiter on Bullhorn | Submittals and ATS updates | CoRecruit |
| A recruiter who screens by phone and sends scorecards | Phone screens and structure | Interview Signal |
Whichever you pick, run it next to Granola on the same few interviews before you cancel, and tell candidates which tool is listening. Our consent script has a line you can read out.
When should you stay with Granola?
Stay if you are a hiring manager who interviews a handful of times a month, you like writing your own notes, and you would rather no recording existed. Granola is very good at that. Move when your notes need to look the same across interviewers, feed a debrief, or land in an ATS; our interview scorecard template shows the structure those situations call for, whichever tool you choose.
Questions people ask
What is the best Granola alternative for recruiters?
It depends on what Granola lacks for you. As of October 2026, Jamie is the closest like-for-like tool with no bot and audio deleted after transcription, Otter and Fathom keep recordings you can replay, Metaview and BrightHire add recruiting structure and ATS integrations, CoRecruit suits agencies, and Interview Signal adds a live question guide, scorecard and submittal without a bot.
Does Granola keep a recording of the interview?
No. Granola's security page says it does not store the audio from meetings, so you cannot replay a disputed answer. Notes and transcripts are kept indefinitely by default unless you set auto-deletion, as of October 2026.
Which Granola alternative works with an applicant tracking system?
Granola names no ATS integration as of October 2026. Metaview and BrightHire list many applicant tracking systems including Greenhouse and Bullhorn, and CoRecruit lists Bullhorn, Vincere, Loxo and Crelate among more than 40 systems. Interview Signal has no ATS integration and shapes notes for pasting into Bullhorn, Greenhouse, Lever or JobAdder.
Can Granola take notes on a phone screen?
Only from its iPhone app, and only for outbound calls; Granola's help center says the Android app does not support phone calls. Alternatives that capture calls running through the computer include Interview Signal and Fireflies, and Metaview uses a switchboard or calls from its app.
