Jamie is an AI note taker that runs on your own device, so no bot joins the interview, and it keeps data in the EU: its documentation says audio is deleted once the transcript is ready. For interviews, that suits European employers and anyone wary of bots. As of October 2026 its free plan stops at 30 minutes per meeting, Pro is $46 a month billed yearly, it cannot record phone calls, and it integrates with CRMs and note apps but no applicant tracking system.
This page covers what Jamie's own site and documentation say, translated into interview terms: capture, data, consent, plans, the gaps for recruiters, and a setup that works.
What does Jamie do well for interviews?
- No bot. Jamie "runs directly on your device and does not require a meeting bot to join your calls," and works across "Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, or any other online platform" (meetjamie.ai).
- EU data handling. Storage and processing stay within the EEA, Switzerland and the UK, and the site says audio is "streamed, never stored." The company is in Germany and cites ISO 27001 and GDPR.
- A consent email before the call. Jamie can email attendees ahead of the meeting to say you will use it, which few note takers do (recording consent).
- A private scratchpad. Notes you type during the call stay "standalone" and are not folded into the AI summary (recorder guide).
- Templates with context. Custom templates take a "Meeting Context" field, and Jamie's own example is "Interviews with potential candidates" (templates).
Jamie's plans, in interview terms
From Jamie's pricing page as of October 2026. The last column is ours.
| Plan | Price | AI notes a month | Longest meeting | What that means for interviews |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 10 | 30 minutes | Short screens only; a 45-minute interview is cut off |
| Plus | $24 (billing period not stated on the page) | 20 | 2 hours | About five interviews a week |
| Pro | $46/mo billed yearly | Unlimited | 5 hours | A full-time interviewer; adds CRM integrations and MCP |
| Team | $37/seat/mo billed yearly | Unlimited | 5 hours | Shared workspace, tags and templates for a hiring team |
| Enterprise | Custom, billed yearly | Unlimited | 5 hours | SSO, SCIM, audit logs, custom retention and consent notices |
The page shows a 17% discount for yearly billing. Every plan includes the consent email, speaker recognition, notes and transcripts in 99+ languages, and in-person meetings. Yearly, Pro is $46 × 12 = $552 for one person, and a three-person Team is $37 × 3 × 12 = $1,332, so a group that interviews together pays less per person on Team than on Pro.
How does Jamie capture an interview, and where does the data go?
The desktop app notices when you join a video call and asks whether to start, or you start it manually; it uses your default microphone. On the phone, the mobile app for iOS and Android records in-person meetings. Jamie's data handling page describes the rest:
| Step | What Jamie says happens |
|---|---|
| Audio | Uploaded to a server in Frankfurt and processed on Modal's serverless GPUs, where nothing is stored |
| After transcription | "We delete all audio files permanently" |
| Transcript | Stored on a server in Frankfurt so you can access it |
| Notes | Generated through an Anthropic or OpenAI API; data "not stored" there and not used for training |
For an interview, the practical effect is that there is no recording to listen back to, only the transcript and notes. That reduces what you hold about a candidate, which helps with data minimization under GDPR; see recording interviews under UK GDPR. It also means a disputed quote can only be checked against the transcript.
Telling the candidate: three routes Jamie supports
- Say it. Jamie's own suggested line is a heads-up at the start that you are using Jamie to take notes.
- Email ahead. With your calendar connected, Jamie emails attendees 10 minutes to 48 hours before the meeting (4 hours by default), excluding people in your workspace. For an interview, that means the candidate gets a notice before the call, which gives them time to ask you not to use it.
- Chat notice. Jamie can post a notice in the meeting chat once recording starts, on Teams, Meet and Zoom, but the documentation says it is in closed beta, off by default, and on macOS needs Accessibility permission on every Mac.
Jamie's documentation says "it is required to inform all meeting participants" and that the legal basis is your responsibility as data controller. Use the email and the spoken line together; our consent script has wording for both. This is general information, not legal advice.
Where does Jamie stop for recruiting?
Gaps we could not find covered on Jamie's pages as of October 2026:
- No phone calls. The mobile app guide says "Jamie cannot record phone calls." See how to record a phone screen for other routes.
- No ATS. Integrations cover Notion, Google Docs, OneNote, HubSpot, Salesforce, Dynamics 365, Attio, Affinity, DealCloud and Asana, plus an API and webhooks. No Greenhouse, Lever, Bullhorn or Workday.
- Built for deal teams. The firms named on its pricing page and integrations such as DealCloud and Affinity point to investment and advisory work. Nothing describes question guides or interview scorecards.
- Short free plan. 30 minutes per meeting is shorter than most interviews.
- No audio to replay, by design, which is a privacy benefit and a review limitation.
A setup that makes Jamie work for interviews
- Connect your calendar and turn on the recording notice under Settings, Notifications, so candidates hear about Jamie before the call.
- Create an interview template with a meeting context such as "Interviews with potential candidates for [role]," and apply it to every interview.
- Use the scratchpad for your own judgments during the call. They stay out of the AI summary, which keeps your opinion separate from the record of what the candidate said.
- Exclude apps you do not want prompts for in Settings, Preferences, so Jamie does not offer to record unrelated calls.
- Share selectively. When sharing from the mobile app you can choose summary, transcript, tasks and scratchpad separately; send a hiring manager the summary, not your scratchpad.
Sections for a Jamie interview template
- Evidence by competency: one section per must-have, asking for the candidate's own words, or "No evidence."
- Logistics: pay expectation, notice period, location, work authorization, other processes.
- Open questions: topics the interview did not cover.
Leave ratings out of the template and score yourself, against the transcript, using the interview scorecard template.
Checking the transcript when there is no audio to replay
Because Jamie deletes the audio, the transcript is the only record, so check it within the hour while you still remember the conversation:
- Speaker names. Jamie's data page says speaker identification remembers "the name you assign to a voice." When you interview many candidates, confirm each transcript names this candidate, not a voice label carried over from an earlier call.
- Numbers and negatives. Pay, notice period, years of experience, and "I have" versus "I haven't."
- Custom words. Add client, product and technology names to Jamie's custom vocabulary so they stop being misheard.
- Your words versus theirs. Make sure a quote is the candidate's answer, not your question read back.
Jamie next to recruiting-specific tools
| Need | Jamie | Recruiting-specific tools |
|---|---|---|
| No bot in the call | Yes, on every platform | Varies |
| EU data residency | Strong: EEA, Switzerland, UK | Varies; ask |
| Candidate notice before the call | Automatic email on every plan | Rare |
| Phone screens | Not supported | Some capture computer audio or offer dialers |
| ATS sync | None | Common |
| Scorecards with evidence | Template-based notes | Core feature in several |
Who should use Jamie for interviews?
- Suits: hiring managers and recruiters in Europe who need data kept in the EEA and no recording of the candidate's voice kept afterwards.
- Suits: interviewers who already use Jamie for client or deal meetings and want one tool.
- Look elsewhere if: phone screens are a large share of your interviews, or notes must land in an ATS.
We make Interview Signal, one alternative for that last group; everything about Jamie here comes from Jamie's own site and documentation, linked and dated. It is also a desktop app with no bot that does not keep audio, and it covers phone screens taken through the computer and builds a scorecard with quotes checked against the transcript, but it has no ATS integration either and no mobile app. For a similar device-based tool, compare Granola for recruiting.
Questions people ask
Does Jamie join interviews as a bot?
No. Jamie's site says it runs directly on your device and does not require a meeting bot, and that it works across Zoom, Teams, Google Meet and other online platforms, as of October 2026. Apps are available for Mac, Windows and iPhone, with an Android app for in-person recording.
Where does Jamie store interview data?
Jamie's documentation says audio is uploaded to a server in Frankfurt, processed, and then permanently deleted once the transcript is ready. The transcript is stored in Frankfurt, and notes are generated through Anthropic or OpenAI APIs without the data being stored there or used for training.
Can Jamie record a phone screen?
Jamie's mobile app documentation says plainly that Jamie cannot record phone calls. It records online meetings from the desktop app and in-person conversations from the laptop or phone, so recruiters who screen by phone need another route for those calls.
How can I tell candidates I am using Jamie?
Jamie offers three routes as of October 2026: a spoken announcement, an automatic email to meeting attendees between 10 minutes and 48 hours before the meeting, and a meeting chat notice that is in closed beta and off by default. Jamie's documentation says informing all participants is required and that the legal basis is your responsibility.
