The Interview Signal home screen is laid out for three jobs, in order of how often they come up: start the next interview, finish one that is half done, and find a past candidate. At the top is one "Start an interview" bar; below it, "Roles" on the left, shown as pipelines, and "Interviews" on the right, with a "To finish" group, the week, earlier interviews and a search box. This is the home screen introduced in 0.9.8 and current in version 0.9.10 as of October 2026.

How do I start an interview from the home screen?

  1. Check the role. The bar already has a role picked: the one you used last, otherwise the role of your most recent interview, otherwise your first role. Practice roles sit in their own "Practice" group in the list and are never picked for you.
  2. Type the candidate's name in "Candidate name (optional)". You can leave it blank and add it later.
  3. Press "Start", press Enter in the name box, or press S anywhere on the screen. You go to the pre-interview screen for the audio check, the candidate details and the optional consent step.

Each role row also shows "Start" and "Edit" when the pointer rests on it, and "New role" (or the N key) opens the kit screen to build a kit from a job description. With no roles yet, the screen shows one button, "Paste a job description", and a link to add two practice roles.

What is in the To finish list?

Interviews that still need a hand, newest first, up to five, each with the one button that finishes it. Practice interviews never appear here, and a call under two minutes with no score is treated as a false start unless it was interrupted.

No nameThe candidate was never namedName (type it in the row, press Enter)
Not scoredThe interview ended without a fit scoreOpen
Not sentScored, but the submittal has not been exported; listed for seven daysWrite submittal

An interview leaves the list once it is sent. Copy, Save .md, Export .docx, Add CSV row, Email to client and the ATS notes all count as sending; the exports guide lists them.

What do the colors and words on each row mean?

Each interview is one line: the candidate's name (or "Unnamed candidate"), the role and client, when it happened ("today", "yesterday", a weekday within the week, then a date), how long it ran, the fit score, and a status word. The fit is the only thing in color: green at 8 or above, amber from 5 to just under 8, red below 5, and a dash when there is no score. The status words are Interrupted, No name, Not scored, Not sent, Sent and Practice. Click a row, or press Enter on it, to open its review screen.

How do roles work as pipelines?

Each role row says how its shortlist stands, for example "4 interviewed · best 8.4 · 1 sent" (example), or "12 questions · no interviews yet" before the first call. Click a role to replace the list with that role's candidates, best fit first, numbered, with unscored ones at the end. The header shows the count, the best fit and how many were sent, plus two buttons: "Compare", which puts up to six scored candidates side by side (see Compare), and "All interviews" to go back.

How do I find a past candidate?

Press / or click "Search" and type. The search covers candidate name, role and client; every word you type has to match, in any order and any script. The title shows how many matched. Escape clears the search.

What else is on the home screen?

  • The header shows your agency or account name and sign-in email, your plan, "?" for help, and "Settings". On Team it reads, for example, "Team · 4/5 seats". On Free or Pay as you go it shows the time left as a small bar, such as "12 of 20 free minutes left", with "Buy hours" (and "Upgrade" on Free); see free minutes and plans.
  • The week line under the start bar, such as "This week: 6 interviews · 4 sent · avg fit 7.2" (example), counting only real interviews. Admins on a team of more than one seat can switch it between "Mine" and "Team"; the team figures come from counts and scores only.
  • The quick tour opens once on a new computer; "?" brings it back.
  • Offline, your roles are still there, because they are kept on the computer; new kits and scoring wait for a connection.
  • On a narrow window, below 1,150 pixels, the two panels stack.

Limits

  • The list shows interviews saved on this computer only, not your colleagues'.
  • Search looks at names, roles and clients, not inside transcripts.
  • An interrupted interview opens in review; capture cannot be resumed in 0.9.10.
  • The keys S, N and / work only when you are not typing in a field. All shortcuts are in keyboard shortcuts and zoom.

Questions people ask

Where do I find past interviews in Interview Signal?

On the home screen. The Interviews panel lists everything on your computer under To finish, This week and Earlier. Press the slash key or click Search and type a candidate's name, a role or a client, or click a role on the left to see its candidates ranked by fit.

What does Not sent mean on the Interview Signal home screen?

The interview was scored but its submittal has not been exported yet. Copying the submittal, saving it, exporting it to Word, adding a CSV row, opening it in an email or copying an ATS note changes the status to Sent. A scored interview that is not sent appears under To finish for seven days, with a Write submittal button.

Can I see my team's interviews on the Interview Signal home screen?

No. The list shows the interviews saved on your own computer, because transcripts and submittals never leave it. An admin on a Team plan can switch the week line from Mine to Team to see the agency's totals for the week, built only from counts and scores.

Why is an interview marked Interrupted in Interview Signal?

The app never saw the end of it, for example because the app was closed or the computer shut down during the call. The transcript and scorecard saved up to that point are kept, and Open takes you to its review screen. In version 0.9.10 an interrupted interview cannot be resumed.
