Spark Hire and Interview Signal overlap only at the live interview. Spark Hire (sparkhire.com) is a hiring platform: one-way and live video interviews on its own branded platform, with scheduling built in, from $249 a month billed annually, plus an applicant tracking system (ATS) called Recruit, from $335 a month billed annually, whose beta AI Interview Notetaker joins Zoom, Teams or Google Meet as a bot, as of October 2026. Interview Signal (interviewersignal.com) is a Windows and macOS desktop app that works beside the call you already use, with no bot, guides the interview while it happens and drafts a scorecard and client submittal, from $49 a month on Solo, with no video, scheduling or ATS of its own. Choose Spark Hire if you want one-way video screening, self-scheduling and your own interview platform; choose Interview Signal if you interview in clients' and candidates' calls or by phone and want help during the interview.

We make Interview Signal. Every fact about Spark Hire below was checked on sparkhire.com and Spark Hire Recruit's help center in October 2026 and is linked. For the notetaker on its own, see Spark Hire AI Interview Notetaker for recruiting.

Where Spark Hire is the better choice

One-way video interviews. Spark Hire's one-way video page describes candidates recording answers on their own schedule in a branded portal, with your own recorded questions, think time, take limits and answer length. Responses are transcribed in more than 50 languages and summarized by AI so reviewers see the key points before watching, and Spark Hire says it does not use AI to automate decisions on video interviews. If your first round is a volume screen, this removes the calendar from it; Interview Signal has nothing comparable. Our page on one-way video interviews covers when the format helps and the rules that apply.

Scheduling. Spark Hire's live interview page says candidates can book a time from your connected calendar, and Recruit's pricing table lists self-service interview scheduling on every plan, with panel scheduling, meeting-room booking and interview time blocks on Growth and Enterprise. Interview Signal does not schedule anything.

Its own interview platform. Live interviews run on Spark Hire with your branding, pre-loaded question sets you can refer to during the call, bookmarks on key moments, and recordings you share with stakeholders who could not attend, who then submit ratings. For a hiring manager who missed the call, a recording is something Interview Signal cannot give, because it records no video.

How does each one capture a live interview?

Spark Hire has two routes. Interviews held on its own live video platform are recorded there. In Recruit, the beta AI Interview Notetaker "joins interviews to capture audio and video," according to its help article, on Spark Hire-hosted Zoom or Teams interviews and on custom Zoom, Teams or Google Meet links. Once activated it joins every interview unless switched off for a position, and the article warns that some meeting settings can stop it joining. On Teams, Microsoft's admin documentation says detected external bots wait in the lobby by default until an organizer admits them.

Interview Signal runs on the interviewer's computer, labels the microphone as the interviewer and the meeting's sound as the candidate, and adds nothing to the participant list. It works the same whether you or a client sent the link.

Phone screens and in-person interviews

Spark Hire's answer to the phone screen is to replace it: its one-way page says "Replace phone screens with on-demand video interviews." The notetaker itself describes no phone capture. Interview Signal captures a phone screen run through the computer, for example on a softphone; a call on a mobile that never touches the computer is not captured (how to record a phone screen).

Neither is strong in person. Spark Hire describes no in-person capture. Interview Signal transcribes a room, but with both voices on the interviewer's microphone it cannot verify quotes against the candidate: areas come back "Probe further", scores above 5 are capped, and follow-ups and "Score as we go" do not start on their own, so you press Evaluate, add scores with + and press the refresh arrow for follow-ups. See AI note takers for in-person interviews.

What do you get during and after the interview?

Spark Hire's notetaker writes a summary grouped into topics (relevant experience, skills and tools, problem solving, communication, work style, motivation, culture and values, and the candidate's questions), then suggests optional Pros, Concerns, Further review items and draft scorecard inputs. Spark Hire says it "does not make hiring recommendations, classify candidates, or automatically add notes or ratings"; the interviewer chooses what to submit. Transcript downloads are available for English interviews.

Interview Signal works while you talk: a question guide built from the job description with must-ask questions pinned until asked, follow-ups with a reason (probe, clarify, evidence) and a scorecard filled as the interview goes. Afterwards each score carries the candidate's own quotes, checked against the transcript, with any quote not found removed, and it drafts a client submittal in the agency's template. Spark Hire's live platform lets you pre-load and refer to questions during the call, but we found no live follow-up suggestions or submittal described.

Spark Hire's notetaker has a strong consent option: with "Require candidate consent to use AI Interview Notetaker" turned on, candidates see a page before joining, linked to your privacy notice, and choose "Join the interview" or "Join without recording", with the choice logged on their record. Recordings and summaries live in Spark Hire (consent features compared).

Interview Signal gives you a read-aloud consent line, notice text by jurisdiction and a one-click pause. Transcripts, quotes, candidate names, notes and submittals stay on the recruiter's computer; audio goes to a speech-to-text provider in short chunks during the call and is not retained, and the server keeps only counts and durations. The candidate's name and company are sent to the AI model when it writes the submittal, and saved roles and templates are stored on the team account (security details).

Which one works with your ATS?

Spark Hire. Its video interviews list more than 40 ATS integrations, and Recruit is an ATS for companies of 50 to 500 employees, where the notetaker's summary appears on the interview page, the Evaluation tab and the activity log. The notetaker is an add-on to Recruit only, so on another ATS you would get Spark Hire's video interviews but not its notetaker. Interview Signal has no ATS integration; you copy or export its scorecard and submittal and paste them in.

How do the prices compare?

Spark Hire's video interviews start at $299 a month billed monthly, for up to five jobs and five users, or $249 a month billed annually with unlimited jobs and users; Recruit starts at $335 (Pro) or $499 (Growth) a month on an annual contract for companies up to 50 employees, rising with headcount, and the notetaker is an add-on with an unpublished price and a yearly interview quota (pricing). Interview Signal's prices are in the table above and on its pricing page.

The prices buy different things: Spark Hire's covers screening, scheduling and hosting interviews, Interview Signal's the conversation itself. Some teams use both, one-way video to shortlist and Interview Signal beside the live call.

Choose Spark Hire if / choose Interview Signal if

Choose Spark Hire if:

  • You want one-way video screening so candidates answer on their own schedule.
  • You want candidates to book interviews themselves and panels scheduled for you.
  • You want your own branded interview platform with recordings to share.
  • You use, or want, Recruit as your ATS, with a notetaker that asks candidates for consent first.

Choose Interview Signal if:

  • Your live interviews run on clients' or candidates' Zoom, Teams or Meet, or by phone through your computer.
  • You want a question guide and follow-ups during the interview, not only notes after it.
  • You write client submittals and want quotes checked against the transcript first.
  • You do not want video stored, and want transcripts kept on your own computer.

Interview Signal is newer, with few public reviews, desktop only and without ATS integration, so test it on real interviews first. Other bot-free tools are compared in AI note takers without a bot.

What to test before you decide

1. A live interview where a client sends its own Teams link.
What does each tool capture, and what does the candidate see?
2. A phone screen on your usual setup.
3. Three scorecard items against the transcript. Were the
   quotes the candidate's own words?
4. Your first round: would one-way video replace it, or do
   you need the conversation?
5. How you would delete one candidate's interview on request.

If question 4 is a yes, start with Spark Hire's video interviews. If questions 1 and 2 describe most of your week, Interview Signal is the closer fit.

Questions people ask

Is Interview Signal an alternative to Spark Hire?

Only for part of what Spark Hire does. Spark Hire sells one-way and live video interviews on its own platform, an applicant tracking system called Recruit, and a beta AI Interview Notetaker for Recruit that joins Zoom, Teams or Google Meet as a bot. Interview Signal is a desktop app for the live interview itself: no bot, a question guide during the call, and a scorecard and submittal afterwards. It has no one-way video, scheduling or ATS.

Which is better for one-way video interviews, Spark Hire or Interview Signal?

Spark Hire. One-way video is its core product: candidates record answers on their own schedule in a branded portal, with transcripts in more than 50 languages and AI summaries of each response, as of October 2026. Interview Signal does not offer one-way video interviews at all.

Which is cheaper, Spark Hire or Interview Signal?

For one person, Interview Signal: its Solo plan is $468 a year, while Spark Hire's video interviews start at $249 a month billed annually, or $299 monthly, as of October 2026. Spark Hire's annual video plan allows unlimited users, so the gap narrows for larger teams, and Spark Hire Recruit, its ATS, starts at $335 a month billed annually.

Does Spark Hire or Interview Signal integrate with an ATS?

Spark Hire does. Its video interviews list more than 40 ATS integrations, and Recruit is itself an ATS, where its AI Interview Notetaker's summaries land. Interview Signal has no ATS integration; it produces notes shaped for Bullhorn, Greenhouse, Lever or JobAdder that you paste in by hand.
