BrightHire is an interview intelligence platform for in-house hiring teams that records interviews, writes structured notes and drafts ATS scorecards for interviewers to submit in one click. Zoom acquired it in December 2025, and its biggest practical advantage follows from that: on Zoom it runs inside the meeting with no per-call bot, while on Google Meet it joins as a participant and on Microsoft Teams it needs a recorder address on the invite. As of October 2026 it also sells an AI interviewer, BrightHire Screen, and it does not publish prices for any plan.

Every vendor fact below comes from BrightHire's own site or Zoom's announcement, checked in October 2026 and linked. For a wider shortlist see BrightHire alternatives; for the closest rival head-to-head, see Metaview vs BrightHire.

What is BrightHire now that Zoom owns it?

Zoom's acquisition post says the transaction closed in December 2025, that Zoom first invested in BrightHire in 2021, and that BrightHire customers "will continue to have access to the AI platform they know and trust, across any platform where they work." BrightHire's own announcement says it continues to operate as a standalone brand within Zoom, with data, integrations and workflows unchanged.

The product today has two parts, according to its pricing page: BrightHire Interview Intelligence, which covers interview planning, live interview capture, AI notes and insights; and BrightHire Screen, an AI interviewer for first rounds that can be bought alone or with the platform. Its homepage adds real-time interview guides, candidate fraud signals during live and AI interviews, and an AI coaching agent for interviewers.

How does BrightHire capture interviews?

BrightHire's AI interview notes page answers this directly. It connects to your calendar, and then:

  • Zoom: the Interview Assistant "opens natively inside Zoom with no per-call bot required," so the interviewer has the guide and note capture in one place.
  • Google Meet: BrightHire joins as a participant through the calendar connection.
  • Microsoft Teams: you add [email protected] to the meeting invite, which BrightHire calls the most reliable method, or add #brighthire to the meeting details.

The Recruiters plan lists capture of "video, phone, or in-person interviews," and the integrations page mentions click to call candidates from the ATS. We did not find a description of how phone or in-person capture works step by step, so ask for a live demonstration on your own phone setup.

The practical reading: on Zoom, nothing extra joins the call, which is BrightHire's main candidate-experience advantage over tools that send a bot to every meeting. On Teams the weak point is human: someone has to remember the recorder address on every invite, and that habit tends to break when a hiring manager books the meeting from their own calendar. Test that habit during the trial with meetings your hiring managers create themselves.

What do the notes and scorecards do?

BrightHire structures notes around the competencies your team defines before the interview, maps them to your ATS scorecard fields and pushes them into the ATS, according to its notes page. Its scorecard auto-draft sends the mapped notes after the interview ends; the interviewer reviews, adjusts and submits in one click. The page also lists AI-generated candidate write-ups, templates for everything from intake calls to debriefs, and interview highlights playable inside the ATS.

The design choice worth noting is that the interviewer still submits. That keeps the rating with a person, which is the right default for any team that may have to explain a hiring decision later. Make sure your hiring managers actually read the draft before clicking: the evidence-based feedback method shows what a defensible rating needs.

What else is in the BrightHire platform?

BrightHire Screen, the AI interviewer

BrightHire Screen automates first-round interviews. Its product page and pricing page describe agents set up from job descriptions and interview plans, customizable questions and scoring rubrics, and candidates who answer asynchronously by voice or video from any device with no scheduling. Transcripts, summaries and rubric-based scores appear in your ATS, and candidates can be invited automatically when their ATS stage changes.

An AI that asks the questions and produces a score is a different risk from a note taker. In New York City, Local Law 144 of 2021 bars employers and employment agencies from using an automated employment decision tool unless it has had a bias audit within the past year, a summary is public and candidates get notice, according to the city's Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (checked October 2026); our guide to Local Law 144 and AI note takers explains when a tool counts. BrightHire says it engages independent auditors annually for bias testing and names babl.ai as its auditor. Ask for the most recent audit summary and the exact notice text candidates see. This is not legal advice.

Planning, insights and fraud signals

The higher plans add interview planning and analytics. The Teams plan lists an AI assistant that builds job descriptions and interview plans, an intake and debrief agent, a candidate rediscovery agent, interviewer coaching tips, interview topic coverage, side-by-side candidate comparisons and interview quality analytics. The homepage also says BrightHire surfaces fraud signals in AI and live interviews, aimed at AI-assisted answers, proxy interviews and deepfakes. If candidate fraud is a live problem for you, pair any tool with human checks such as matching the person on camera to the ID you collect at offer stage.

BrightHire plans and pricing

BrightHire's pricing page lists plans without prices, as of October 2026. This is what each includes:

PlanBuilt forNotable inclusions
BrightHire ScreenTalent teams automating first roundsAsync AI interviews by voice or video; custom questions and rubrics; results in the ATS; standalone or with the platform
RecruitersRecruiting teamsRecording and transcription; customizable AI notes; video, phone or in-person capture; candidate alerts; AI chat assistant; summaries and highlights; one-click ATS scorecards; Slack; SOC 2 and GDPR; third-party bias audit
TeamsHiring teamsEverything in Recruiters, plus clips and playlists, interview plan builder, intake, debrief and rediscovery agents, coaching tips, topic coverage, comparisons, quality analytics, replays in the ATS, dedicated customer success, role-based access, consent controls, SSO
EnterprisesLarge organizationsEverything in Teams, plus custom reporting, custom ATS integrations, rollout training, quarterly reviews, customized compliance detection, data retention and redaction, REST API

The pricing FAQ says most customers are set up in under a day and there are no extra fees for training or implementation. Two plan details are easy to miss: SSO and role-based access sit in Teams, not Recruiters, and custom retention and redaction are listed in Enterprises. If your security team requires either, price the plan that has it, not the entry plan. To compare a quote with a tool that publishes prices, divide the annual figure by seats and by twelve, then set it against published per-seat prices such as Metaview Pro at $60 per user per month.

Which ATS does BrightHire integrate with?

The integrations page lists 18 applicant tracking systems: Greenhouse, Ashby, Workday, iCIMS, Rippling, Lever, SmartRecruiters, Gem, Jobvite, Bullhorn, Oracle Taleo, SAP SuccessFactors, BambooHR, Breezy, Comeet, JazzHR, Workable and Fountain. It also names Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams; Google Calendar, Calendly, GoodTime and Prelude for scheduling; Paradox and Sense; and Okta, OneLogin and JumpCloud for identity. If your ATS is not on that list, BrightHire asks you to get in touch, and the Enterprises plan lists custom ATS integrations.

How does BrightHire handle data and compliance?

BrightHire's compliance and security page lists SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and CCPA compliance, candidate notification with opt-out, region-based opt-in flows, role-based access controls, customizable data retention, Zero Data Retention options and annual third-party AI bias audits. It also says BrightHire does not use customer data to train external AI models, and its pricing FAQ says it does not use AI to evaluate video. The pricing FAQ lists support for interviews in more than 30 languages.

We did not find a storage region on the pages we checked. Ask where recordings live and for how long by default, especially since the Teams plan lists replays and highlights, which means recordings are kept. The questions in our AI note taker security checklist cover the rest.

BrightHire pros and cons

Pros

  • No per-call bot on Zoom, so candidates on Zoom see no extra participant.
  • Scorecard auto-drafts that interviewers review and submit, keeping the decision with a person.
  • Planning, coverage analytics and coaching for teams with uneven interview quality.
  • A named third-party bias auditor and clear consent and opt-out controls.
  • An AI interviewer and live interviews in one dataset, if you want both.

Cons

  • No published price for any plan, so budgeting starts with a sales call.
  • On Meet a participant joins, and on Teams capture depends on a recorder address being on every invite.
  • Phone and in-person capture are listed but not described.
  • SSO and role-based access start at the Teams plan; custom retention and redaction at Enterprises.
  • Built for in-house hiring teams; we found no client submittal workflow for agencies.

Who should choose BrightHire?

BrightHire fits an in-house team whose interviews run mostly on Zoom, that wants structured plans, scorecards drafted into its ATS and analytics on interview quality across many hiring managers, and that is comfortable buying through a quote. It also fits a team that wants to pilot an AI interviewer for high-volume first rounds without adding a second vendor.

Look elsewhere if you need a price before a demo, most interviews run on Teams and your hiring managers book their own meetings, phone screens are the bulk of your work, or you are an agency whose output is a client submittal. For a direct rival with published pricing, see our Metaview review; for a volume-hiring platform built around agents, see BrightHire vs Carv.

We make Interview Signal, a desktop app that captures audio on the interviewer's computer so nothing joins Zoom, Teams, Meet or a phone screen, at published prices and with no ATS integration; everything about BrightHire here comes from BrightHire's and Zoom's own sites, linked and dated. Our comparison page says where BrightHire is the better choice.

What should you ask BrightHire before you buy?

- Written price for [N] recruiters and [M] hiring managers, by plan,
with minimum term and renewal cap.
- Which plan includes SSO, role-based access and our retention period?
- Live demo on Teams: what happens when the recorder address is
missing from a hiring manager's invite?
- Live demo of a phone screen on [our phone setup]. Count the steps.
- Where are recordings stored, and what is the default retention?
- Most recent bias audit summary for BrightHire Screen, and the
notice candidates see before an AI interview.
- Which Teams and Meet commitments will you put in the order form?

Ask for the answers in writing and note which ones came with a live demonstration. A promise about a platform you use every day is worth less than a demo on it.

Questions people ask

Is BrightHire still available now that Zoom owns it?

Zoom's announcement says the acquisition closed in December 2025 and that BrightHire customers keep access to the platform across any platform where they work, and BrightHire's own post says it continues as a standalone brand within Zoom. As of October 2026 BrightHire still sells its plans on brighthire.com.

How much does BrightHire cost?

BrightHire does not publish prices as of October 2026. Its pricing page names BrightHire Screen and three platform plans, Recruiters, Teams and Enterprises, each with a request-a-demo button, and says there are no extra fees for training or implementation. Get a written quote for your real seat count.

Does BrightHire join interviews as a bot?

It depends on the platform. BrightHire says its Interview Assistant opens natively inside Zoom with no per-call bot, joins Google Meet as a participant through the calendar connection, and captures Microsoft Teams when you add [email protected] to the invite or #brighthire to the meeting details.

Does BrightHire fill in ATS scorecards automatically?

BrightHire says its scorecard auto-draft maps AI-generated notes to your ATS scorecard fields after the interview, and the interviewer reviews, adjusts and submits in one click. One-click scorecard completion is listed in its Recruiters plan, and its integrations page names 18 applicant tracking systems including Greenhouse, Workday, iCIMS, Lever and Bullhorn.
