Metaview is a strong choice for in-house talent teams that want interview notes and draft scorecards posted straight into their ATS, and unlike most of its rivals it publishes a price: a Free plan with 25 calls per user a month and Pro at $60 per user per month, as of October 2026. Its notetaker joins Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and Webex as a visible participant, a new Mac and Windows desktop app records without a bot, and phone screens run through Metaview's browser calling or switchboard. The trade-offs are a bot on video calls by default, a phone setup that only captures calls started through Metaview, and interview data kept in Metaview's cloud for two years unless you change it.
Every fact in this review comes from Metaview's own site and help center, checked in October 2026 and linked so you can confirm it. If you have already decided Metaview is not for you, go to Metaview alternatives; for a head-to-head with its closest enterprise rival, see Metaview vs BrightHire.
What is Metaview in 2026?
Metaview started as an interview note taker and now calls itself "The Agentic Recruiting Platform." Its homepage lists Sourcing, Application Review, Screening, Notes, Reports, Outreach and Job Posts, plus an AI coworker called fillmore that it says finds candidates, runs outreach and books screening calls. Its pricing FAQ says every user gets access to the full platform but pays only for the agents they use, so you can start with the notetaker alone.
This review is about the notetaker, because that is what most recruiters evaluate first. The other agents matter in one way: notes feed them. Metaview's interview notes page describes notes as inputs into sourcing, application review, screening and reports, so a team that adopts the notetaker is also laying the ground for the rest of the platform.
Metaview review: the verdict at a glance
| Question | Short answer, as of October 2026 |
|---|---|
| Best for | In-house teams that want notes and draft scorecards in Greenhouse, Ashby, Lever, Workday or another ATS with little manual work |
| How it captures video calls | A visible notetaker on Zoom, Teams, Meet and Webex; a bot-free desktop app if your admin enables it |
| Phone screens | Yes, when you call through Metaview from a registered number |
| Published price | Free (25 calls per user a month); Pro $60 per user a month; Enterprise tailored |
| ATS coverage | More than 100 ATS on its integrations page, including agency systems |
| Main drawbacks | Bot by default, phone calls must start in Metaview, two-year default retention, client submittals not described |
How does Metaview capture interviews?
Metaview now offers five ways into a conversation. They behave differently in front of a candidate, so it is worth knowing which one your team will actually use.
| Method | Where it works | What the candidate sees | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Notetaker bot | Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and Webex, the only four video platforms supported | A guest named after your company, for example "[Company]'s Metaview Notetaker" | Joins up to 2 minutes early; a host must admit it within 5 minutes of the start; leaves after 5 minutes of silence; stays up to 5 hours |
| Desktop app | Apple Silicon Macs on macOS 14.2 or later; Windows 10 or later on x64 | No participant; on a Mac, a chat announcement (on by default) in Meet in Chrome, Zoom and Teams desktop | Audio only; a workspace admin must enable it; recording never starts without your click |
| Browser recording | Your laptop microphone, from the Metaview home page | Nothing on screen | Meant for in-person conversations; you may need to assign speakers afterwards |
| Upload | .wav, .mp3, .mp4, .mpeg and .mov files up to 4GB | Not applicable | Recordings must be at least 1 minute long |
| Phone | Mobile, landline or VoIP lines registered with Metaview | Your number, or a Metaview number if you hide yours | Covered in the next section |
Sources, all as of October 2026: during the call, desktop app, record from your browser and upload recordings.
The bot is visible on purpose
Metaview's call guide says the notetaker cannot be hidden from other participants, and calls that deliberate: a visible participant reminds everyone the call is being captured. It also names the most common failure: nobody admits the bot in time, often because the person on the call is not the meeting host or a scheduling tool's account holds the host role. In practice, that means interviews hosted by a hiring manager's own calendar, or by a client, are where notes go missing. If you trial Metaview, make one of your test calls a meeting someone else hosts.
The desktop app removes the bot, with conditions
Metaview announced the desktop app on October 12, 2026. It records your microphone and computer audio, not video, screen sharing or meeting chat. On a Mac it can post an announcement in the meeting chat for Google Meet in Chrome, the Zoom desktop app and the Teams desktop app; on Windows chat announcements are not supported, so you tell participants yourself. Only one person in a workspace can record the same meeting with the desktop app, and desktop recordings follow the same retention and deletion controls as bot recordings.
How does Metaview handle phone screens?
Phone capture is better than it used to be. According to the phone calls guide, you register your outbound number once, then start calls in one of three ways: from your browser, talking through your computer's microphone (the default); with "My phone," where Metaview rings you first and then connects the candidate; or by dialing the Metaview switchboard. Switchboard numbers exist in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and several other countries. Notes arrive within about five minutes of hanging up.
The limits are in the phone FAQ:
- The call has to start in Metaview. You cannot add Metaview to a call already in progress, and general inbound calls are not captured. The exception is a callback: if you hide your number, the candidate calls a Metaview number back and that call is captured.
- No consumer apps. Mobile, landline and VoIP services such as Teams Phone, Google Voice, RingCentral and Aircall work; WhatsApp and FaceTime do not.
- No extra fee. Metaview does not charge for the phone option, but your usual provider rates apply when you dial the switchboard.
If your recruiters screen from personal mobiles and candidates often call back unprompted, test that exact pattern. Our guide to recording a phone screen compares the approaches.
What do the notes and scorecards look like?
This is where Metaview earns its reputation. The interview notes page describes templates you can structure as Q&A, topic highlights or a custom format and set at user, team or workspace level; candidate summaries that combine the recruiter screen, hiring manager call and panel into one shareable link; short video snippets suggested from the role's scorecard questions; and capture of coding interviews including what was shared on screen. Notes also draw on CVs, job descriptions, earlier interview notes and ATS data.
On scorecards, Metaview's workspace settings give admins two switches: automatically generate a draft scorecard after each interview for the interviewer to review and submit, or automatically post it to the ATS without a manual submission. Which options appear depends on your ATS integration. We would keep the first and think hard about the second: a scorecard submitted without the interviewer reading it is the AI's judgment filed under a person's name. The evidence-based feedback method explains why the rating should stay with the interviewer.
Reports are the other notable piece. Metaview says every conversation feeds a reporting engine that can track question coverage, interview adherence and candidate talk-time. That is useful for interviewer training, and it is also data about your interviewers that you should tell them exists.
How much does Metaview cost?
From Metaview's pricing page, as of October 2026:
| Plan | Price | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 25 calls per user per month, basic transcription, access to calls from the last 14 days |
| Pro | $60 per user per month | Unlimited calls, priority processing |
| Enterprise | Tailored | Custom volume and usage, dedicated support and training, enterprise security features |
| Agentic Recruiting Platform | Custom | All agents and premium features |
The same page says assistant questions and note regenerations are included with no credits, and Reports is a flat-fee add-on. As an example of the arithmetic, ten recruiters on Pro cost 10 × $60 × 12 = $7,200 a year. The bigger in-house question is hiring managers: someone who interviews a handful of times a month fits inside 25 free calls, but loses access to calls older than 14 days. Ask Metaview whether hiring managers can stay on Free while recruiters are on Pro before you budget seats for everyone.
Which ATS does Metaview integrate with?
Metaview's integrations page lists more than 100 applicant tracking systems, from Greenhouse, Ashby, Lever, Workday, iCIMS and SmartRecruiters to agency systems such as Bullhorn, JobAdder, Loxo, Crelate and JobDiva. It also lists Calendly, Cronofy, GoodTime, Google Calendar and Outlook for scheduling, and supports any SAML or OIDC identity provider for single sign-on. The interview notes page says notes and completed scorecards post to the candidate's record automatically, and that job descriptions, scorecards and prior candidate history flow back into Metaview.
A logo on that page is a starting point, not proof. Ask to see a real candidate record in your ATS after a test interview, and check which record the note lands on and whether the scorecard pre-fill matches your scorecard's fields.
Where does Metaview keep interview data?
Metaview's privacy page answers the questions a security review will ask, as of October 2026:
- Location: all data is hosted in an AWS environment in the UK.
- Retention: two years by default, changeable to any period you ask for.
- What it records: audio and video from the interview, plus code written during technical interviews on certain platforms; video capture can be turned off.
- Deletion: candidate deletion requests can be made by email, with written confirmation within two to three business days.
- Certification: SOC 2 Type II, with GDPR and CCPA compliance stated.
The October update also added automatic redaction of sensitive information in notes. Two years is longer than many in-house retention policies, so set your own period during onboarding rather than accepting the default. Our guide to where AI note takers store interview data lists the follow-up questions.
Metaview pros and cons
Pros
- A published price and a usable free plan, which few interview intelligence vendors offer.
- One of the longest ATS lists in the category, covering both in-house and agency systems.
- Recruiting-specific notes: templates by interview stage, draft scorecards, cross-interview summaries, snippets.
- Five capture routes, including bot-free desktop recording and browser calling for phone screens.
- Unusually detailed public documentation of how capture works and where it fails.
Cons
- The default on video is a visible bot, and calls you do not host depend on someone admitting it within five minutes.
- The desktop app needs admin enablement and, on a Mac, an Apple Silicon machine on macOS 14.2 or later.
- Phone capture requires starting the call in Metaview; WhatsApp, FaceTime and unprompted inbound calls are out.
- Data sits in Metaview's cloud with a two-year default retention.
- We did not find client submittals described, so agencies will still write those themselves.
Who should choose Metaview, and who should look elsewhere?
Choose Metaview if you are an in-house team with structured interview plans in your ATS, you want hiring managers' scorecards drafted for them, a participant on video calls is acceptable to your candidates, and you may later want sourcing or screening agents from the same vendor. Its free plan also makes it an easy first test for a small team.
Look elsewhere if nothing may join your calls and your admin will not enable the desktop app, most of your screens happen on WhatsApp or a personal phone you cannot register, your security team wants transcripts to stay off a vendor's cloud, or your main output is a client submittal. If you are weighing a general meeting tool instead, see Metaview vs Fireflies; if you are weighing an ATS with notes built in, see Metaview vs Screenloop.
We make Interview Signal, a Windows and macOS app that captures audio on the interviewer's own computer with no bot, keeps transcripts on that computer and has no ATS integration; everything about Metaview on this page comes from Metaview's own site, linked and dated. Our side-by-side comparison covers where Metaview is the better choice.
What should you test in a Metaview trial?
Metaview trial checklist (two weeks, real interviews, candidates told)
Video
- One interview you host, one a hiring manager hosts, one a
scheduling tool created. Did the notetaker get admitted each time?
- One call on the desktop app (if your admin enables it).
What did the candidate see?
Phone
- One screen from a registered mobile, one from a softphone.
- Ask a candidate to call you back. Was the callback captured?
Notes and ATS
- Compare the draft scorecard with what the interviewer would
have written. Are the facts right (pay, notice period, one project)?
- Open the candidate record in the ATS. Right record, right fields?
Data
- Set retention to your policy, then delete one test candidate.
How long until written confirmation?
Score each line the same day. A tool that is right about the facts but misses a third of hosted-by-others calls will frustrate hiring managers more than one with plainer notes that never misses a call.
Questions people ask
Is Metaview free to use?
Yes, within limits. As of October 2026, Metaview's Free plan costs $0 and covers 25 calls per user each month with basic transcription and access to calls from the last 14 days. Pro is $60 per user per month with unlimited calls and priority processing, and Enterprise pricing is tailored to the organization.
Does Metaview join interviews as a bot?
By default, yes. Metaview's notetaker joins Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and Webex as a visible guest named after your organization, and a host must admit it within five minutes of the start time if the meeting has a waiting room. Since October 2026 Metaview also offers a desktop app for Apple Silicon Macs on macOS 14.2 or later and for Windows 10 or later that records without a bot, once a workspace admin enables it.
Can Metaview record phone screens?
Yes, as long as the call starts through Metaview. You register your outbound number, then call from Metaview in the browser, have Metaview ring your phone first, or dial its switchboard. It works with mobile, landline and VoIP lines such as Teams Phone, RingCentral and Aircall, but not WhatsApp or FaceTime, and it does not capture a candidate calling you directly unless that call is a callback to a Metaview number.
Where does Metaview store interview recordings and transcripts?
Metaview's privacy page says it hosts all data in an AWS environment in the UK, keeps data for two years by default unless a customer sets a different period, and confirms candidate deletion requests in writing within two to three business days, as of October 2026.
