Metaview and Fireflies both record interviews and write AI notes, but they are different kinds of product. As of October 2026, Metaview is a recruiting platform built around interview notes, with templates by interview stage, draft scorecards posted to more than 100 ATS, a dedicated phone calling flow and Pro at $60 per user per month. Fireflies is a general AI meeting assistant with a recruiting use case, eight listed ATS integrations, a desktop app that captures any call on your computer and seats from $10 to $19 a month on annual billing. Pick Metaview if recruiting is the job; pick Fireflies if one inexpensive tool has to cover interviews and the rest of the company's meetings.

Every vendor fact below comes from Metaview's and Fireflies' own sites and help centers, checked in October 2026 and linked. For more depth on each, see our Metaview review and Fireflies for recruiting.

What is each one built for?

Metaview's interview notes page describes a notetaker that reads your scorecards, job descriptions and interview templates, "knows a screen from a final round," and posts notes to the candidate's record in your ATS. Around the notes sit sourcing, application review, screening and reporting agents. Everything in the product assumes the conversation is a hiring conversation.

Fireflies is built for every kind of meeting. Its recruiting page adds interview summaries, intake and debrief notes, customizable formats, scorecards and insights, and recruiting AI Skills such as a Candidate Questions Tracker and a Candidate Generic Debrief. The same account handles sales calls, stand-ups and board meetings, which is the reason many companies already have it.

How does each one capture interviews?

Scheduled video calls: both send a bot

Metaview's call guide says its notetaker joins as a visible guest named after your organization, typically up to two minutes before the start, and gives up if a host does not admit it from the lobby within five minutes of the scheduled start. It supports Zoom, Teams, Meet and Webex only. Fireflies' help center says its bot appears as "Fireflies.ai Notetaker," joins at the start time from your calendar or auto-join settings, waits up to 10 minutes on Google Meet and 15 minutes on other platforms, and stays two to four hours depending on your plan. Fireflies' bot can also record a meeting you do not attend, if the platform lets guests in.

Without a bot: different trade-offs

Metaview's desktop app, launched in October 2026, records microphone and computer audio on Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14.2 or later and on Windows 10 or later. A workspace admin must enable it, you start each recording with a click, and on a Mac it can post a notice in the meeting chat. Fireflies' desktop app "Take Notes" mode captures system audio on Windows and Mac, saves no audio or video file, and labels speakers as Speaker 1 and Speaker 2 rather than by name. Its consent options, an audio message, a chat message on Mac and an "AI Taking Notes" camera watermark, are on by default. Fireflies also has a Chrome extension that records Google Meet without a bot.

For interviews, the speaker labels matter: a transcript that says "Speaker 2" needs a minute of tidying before it is a usable record of what the candidate said. Run one bot-free interview on each tool and compare.

Which one handles phone screens better?

They solve phone screens in opposite ways. Metaview's phone flow starts the call for you: you register your outbound number, then call a candidate from Metaview through the browser, have Metaview ring your phone first, or dial its switchboard, and notes arrive within about five minutes. The phone FAQ says it works with mobile, landline and VoIP lines such as Teams Phone, RingCentral and Aircall, but not WhatsApp or FaceTime, and does not capture general inbound calls.

Fireflies captures whatever is playing on your computer. Its desktop app lists phone calls, WhatsApp, FaceTime, Aircall and Discord among the calls it can record without a bot, and its dialer integrations cover Aircall, Dialpad, OpenPhone, RingCentral and Zoom Phone. The catch is that the call has to run through your computer or a supported dialer; a screen taken on a personal mobile is not captured.

The practical difference: Metaview ties each phone screen to a candidate record from the start, which keeps notes organized; Fireflies accepts more channels, including WhatsApp, which matters for international candidates. Our guide to recording a phone screen covers the consent step for both.

What do you get after the interview?

Metaview's output is shaped for hiring: templates as Q&A, topic highlights or a custom format per stage, a draft scorecard after each interview that an admin can set to post automatically to supported ATS (workspace settings), summaries that combine every interview for a candidate into one link, and short video snippets suggested from the role's scorecard questions.

Fireflies' recruiting page says interviews can be turned into scorecards and insights in under five minutes, and offers AI Skills including a Candidate Sentiment Analyzer and a Culture Fit Extractor. Think twice before using those two. How positive a candidate sounded is not a job requirement, and "culture fit" is a judgment especially prone to similarity bias; see assessing values without culture fit bias. Fireflies also sells Voice Agents that run first-round interviews by themselves, a different category from note-taking.

Which ATS does each connect to?

Metaview's integrations page lists more than 100 ATS, including Greenhouse, Ashby, Lever, Workday, iCIMS and SmartRecruiters, and agency systems such as Bullhorn, JobAdder, Loxo and Crelate. Notes and completed scorecards post to the candidate's record.

Fireflies' ATS integrations page lists eight: Ashby, BambooHR, Breezy HR, Gem, Greenhouse, Lever, Loxo and Workable. Its Greenhouse page says it logs transcripts and summaries under candidate profiles and creates a new candidate if none is found. Test that once and check you did not create a duplicate profile. If your ATS is Bullhorn, JobAdder, Workday or iCIMS, Fireflies would need its API, Zapier or copy and paste.

What does each cost?

Both publish prices. From Metaview's pricing page and Fireflies' pricing page, as of October 2026; the yearly columns are our arithmetic for example team sizes.

PlanPer seat1 recruiter, 1 year10 recruiters, 1 year (example)
Metaview Free$0, 25 calls a month$0$0
Metaview Pro$60/mo$720$7,200
Fireflies Free$0, limited AI summaries$0$0
Fireflies Pro (annual)$10/mo$120$1,200
Fireflies Business (annual)$19/mo$228$2,280
Fireflies Enterprise$39/mo, annual only$468$4,680

Fireflies is far cheaper per seat. Two things narrow the gap for recruiting teams. Fireflies Pro includes 8,000 minutes of storage per seat; as an example, a recruiter running thirty half-hour screens a week (900 minutes) would fill it in about nine weeks, so many recruiting teams will need Business. And the time a recruiter spends turning a general summary into a scorecard is a cost too. Our pricing comparison works out cost per screen across more tools.

Where does each keep your data?

Metaview's privacy page says all data is hosted on AWS in the UK, kept two years by default unless you set another period, and that candidate deletion requests are confirmed in writing within two to three business days; it lists SOC 2 Type II. Fireflies' security page lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 42001, HIPAA and GDPR, says customer data is never used for AI training, and offers private storage and custom data retention on Enterprise. Either way, transcripts live in the vendor's cloud; ask each where, and set retention to match your own policy. See where AI note takers store interview data.

What should you ask both vendors?

Both
- Run a video interview someone else hosts. Was the bot admitted?
- Run one bot-free interview. How are speakers labeled?
- Run a phone screen on [our phone setup]. Count the steps.
- Show the note on a real [our ATS] record. Duplicates? Right fields?
- Where is the data stored, and what is the default retention?

Metaview
- Can hiring managers stay on Free while recruiters are on Pro?
- Will our admin enable the desktop app for everyone?

Fireflies
- How many AI credits does a recruiting AI Skill use per interview?
- Which plan do we need for our storage and recording length?

What if neither fits?

If the sticking points are a bot on calls, transcripts in a vendor's cloud and the gap between a summary and a finished scorecard, a bot-free desktop tool built for interviews may fit better; see AI note takers without a bot. We make Interview Signal, one of those: a Windows and macOS app that captures audio on the interviewer's computer, runs a question guide during the call and keeps transcripts on that computer, at published prices but with no ATS integration; everything about Metaview and Fireflies on this page comes from their own sites, linked and dated.

Questions people ask

Is Metaview or Fireflies better for recruiting?

For a recruiting team that wants notes in recruiting formats and draft scorecards posted to its ATS, Metaview is the more specialized tool, with more than 100 ATS on its integrations page. Fireflies is a general meeting assistant with recruiting features and eight listed ATS integrations, and it suits companies that already use it across sales and internal meetings or want the lowest cost per seat, as of October 2026.

Is Fireflies cheaper than Metaview?

Yes, at published prices as of October 2026. Fireflies Pro is $18 per seat per month, or $10 billed annually, and Business is $29, or $19 billed annually. Metaview Pro is $60 per user per month. Both have free plans: Metaview's covers 25 calls per user a month, and Fireflies' offers unlimited transcription with limited AI summaries and 400 minutes of storage per team.

Which one records interviews without a bot joining?

Both can. Metaview's desktop app for Apple Silicon Macs on macOS 14.2 or later and Windows 10 or later records without a bot once a workspace admin enables it. Fireflies' desktop app for Windows and Mac captures system audio without a bot, and its Chrome extension records Google Meet without one. By default, both send a visible notetaker to scheduled video calls.

Does Fireflies integrate with Bullhorn like Metaview does?

Not as a listed integration. As of October 2026, Fireflies' applicant tracking integrations page lists Ashby, BambooHR, Breezy HR, Gem, Greenhouse, Lever, Loxo and Workable. Metaview's integrations page lists Bullhorn, JobAdder, Crelate and many other agency systems alongside in-house ones.
