The main HireVue alternatives for live interviews are VidCruiter, a video interview platform with its own live interview rooms, and interview assistants that work on the video tool you already use: BrightHire, Metaview, Greenhouse Notetaker, Zoom's built-in meeting summary and Interview Signal. As of October 2026, HireVue runs live interviews in HireVue, Zoom, Teams or Webex, adds AI summaries and transcripts, integrates with enterprise ATS, and does not publish prices; teams look elsewhere when they only need the live-interview part.

We make Interview Signal, one of the tools below; everything about the other products comes from their own sites, linked and dated. This page is about live, two-way interviews. One-way video interviews, AI-scored assessments and HireVue's AI Interviewer are separate products with separate alternatives.

What does HireVue offer for live interviews?

From HireVue's own pages, as of October 2026:

  • Where the interview happens. Its video interviewing page says "Meet in Hirevue, Zoom, Teams, or Webex," with "shared structure and real-time notes" for panels.
  • What counts as live. HireVue's solution descriptions define Live Interviewing as "real-time, web-based, phone, or in-person interviews between a candidate and one or more interviewers."
  • AI on top. Interview Insights, described there as an add-on module, generates summaries, searchable transcripts and highlights "from live and Hirevue OnDemand interviews," according to the video interviewing page.
  • Platform features. Scheduling and reminders, cheating mitigation and ID verification, and more than 1,000 job-specific interview guides maintained by I-O psychologists.
  • Integrations. Its integrations page names Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle and Taleo, SmartRecruiters, iCIMS, Greenhouse, Avature, BrassRing, Cornerstone and others.
  • Price. The pricing page lists no prices.

Do you need a video platform or an interview assistant?

This is the decision that narrows the list fastest.

  • A video interview platform hosts the interview: scheduling, a branded room, rating guides, recordings, often one-way interviews too. Choose one if you are replacing HireVue across high-volume or campus hiring. VidCruiter is the closest like-for-like option below.
  • An interview assistant sits on Zoom, Teams, Meet or the phone and adds notes, structure and scorecards. Choose one if your company already has a video tool and you used HireVue mainly for live interviews with notes.

Some teams split the job: keep a platform for high-volume one-way screening, and give recruiters and hiring managers an assistant for the live rounds that follow. That works if the two outputs end up in the same candidate record, so decide early who copies what into the ATS.

Each alternative, and who it suits

VidCruiter

VidCruiter's live interview page describes two-way interviews with "built-in scorecards, AI interview notes, automated scheduling, and panel interview tools," branded interview rooms, automated interview guides, and Zoom and Microsoft Teams integration. It says AI features "are optional and can be toggled on or off with a single click." Pricing comes through a form. Best for: organizations replacing HireVue's platform, including one-way interviews, with another platform. Weak spot: a full platform and procurement cycle if all you wanted was notes on live calls.

BrightHire

Owned by Zoom since December 2025, BrightHire runs natively inside Zoom with "no per-call bot required," and its integrations page covers the enterprise ATS HireVue customers tend to use, including Workday, iCIMS, SAP SuccessFactors and Oracle Taleo. Best for: enterprise teams moving live interviews onto Zoom. Weak spot: prices by quote. See BrightHire alternatives.

Metaview

Metaview publishes its Notetaker prices: free for 25 calls a month, then $60 per user per month. A bot joins video calls and phone calls go through a switchboard. Best for: teams that want to start this quarter without a long procurement. Weak spot: a visible participant in every interview, and no hosted interview room.

Greenhouse Notetaker

Greenhouse's note taker "joins Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams interviews automatically" with candidate consent, on its Core, Plus and Pro tiers. Best for: Greenhouse customers who used HireVue only for live interviews. Weak spot: Greenhouse only. More in AI note takers for Greenhouse.

Zoom meeting summary

Already in paid Zoom Workplace plans; the host or co-host starts it. Best for: small teams that need a record, not a platform. Weak spot: a meeting summary, not interview evidence, and no ATS link.

Interview Signal

A Windows and macOS desktop app for the person running the interview. No bot joins; it works beside Zoom, Teams, Meet and phone screens taken through the computer. It builds the question guide from the job description, fills the scorecard as the interview goes with the candidate's quotes checked against the transcript, and for panels shares only which questions were asked and the scores, never transcripts. Free includes 20 minutes; Team is $59 per seat per month or $49 billed yearly, minimum three seats. Best for: recruiters and hiring managers who want structured live interviews without buying a platform. Weak spots: no ATS integration, no video recording, no scheduling or one-way interviews, desktop only, and few public reviews.

AI analysis and the law

Live interview tools differ in what their AI does with a candidate. Transcribing and summarizing is one thing; scoring or analyzing a candidate's video is another, and the law treats them differently.

  • Illinois. Section 5 of the Artificial Intelligence Video Interview Act (820 ILCS 42) applies to an employer that "asks applicants to record video interviews and uses an artificial intelligence analysis of the applicant-submitted videos" for Illinois-based roles: it must notify, explain how the AI works, and get consent before the interview (text checked October 2026). Our Illinois guide covers the rest of the Act.
  • New York City. The city's consumer and worker protection agency says employers may not use an automated employment decision tool without a bias audit within one year of use, must publish audit information, and must give notice 10 business days before use; enforcement began July 5, 2023 (DCWP AEDT page). See NYC Local Law 144 and AI note takers.

Ask each vendor whether any feature scores or ranks candidates, and switch off what you do not need. This is general information, not legal advice.

A short plan for switching

  1. List what you used. Many teams pay for a platform and use only live interviews and notes.
  2. Export what you must keep. Recordings and scores you are required to retain, under your records policy.
  3. Rebuild guides first. Structure carries over better than recordings; our video interview guide covers running the call itself.
  4. Pilot on five real interviews per tool, including a phone screen and a panel, before deciding.
  5. Update candidate notices to name the new tool.

For the wider landscape, including tools that do more than live interviews, see interview intelligence software.

Questions people ask

What are the alternatives to HireVue for live interviews?

As of October 2026 the main options are VidCruiter, another video interview platform with live interview rooms and Zoom and Teams integration, and interview assistants that sit on the video tool you already use: BrightHire, Metaview, Greenhouse Notetaker, Zoom's built-in meeting summary and Interview Signal. Which fits depends on whether you need a platform that hosts interviews or only notes and structure for interviews you already run.

Does HireVue publish its pricing?

No. HireVue's pricing page, checked in October 2026, invites you to talk to the company about a plan and lists no prices. VidCruiter, BrightHire and Greenhouse Notetaker also do not publish prices; Metaview and Interview Signal do.

Can I run live interviews on Zoom or Teams instead of HireVue's own video room?

Yes. HireVue itself says live interviews can be held in HireVue, Zoom, Teams or Webex, and VidCruiter offers Zoom and Microsoft Teams integration. Interview assistants such as BrightHire, Metaview and Interview Signal work on top of your existing Zoom, Teams or Meet calls.

Do AI interview laws apply to live interview tools?

They can. Illinois' Artificial Intelligence Video Interview Act covers employers who use AI to analyze video interviews, and New York City's Local Law 144 covers automated employment decision tools. Whether a given tool is covered depends on what it does with the interview, so check with counsel. This is general information, not legal advice.
