tl;dv alternatives for recruiters: options for EU data, Greenhouse and phone screens
On this page
The main tl;dv alternatives for recruiters as of October 2026 are Jamie and Bluedot for interview data kept in the EU, Greenhouse Notetaker for Greenhouse customers who want the note taker inside their ATS, Fireflies for a longer list of native ATS integrations and phone calls captured on the desktop, Metaview and BrightHire for recruiting-specific notes, and Interview Signal for scorecards and submittals without a bot. Recruiters usually leave tl;dv because its bot joins by default, its bot-free mode is audio only, its free AI notes run out, or Greenhouse is its only ATS.
We make Interview Signal, one of the tools below; everything about the other products comes from their own sites, linked and dated.
What does tl;dv do well for recruiters?
tl;dv records Zoom, Google Meet and Teams with a meeting bot, gives you a transcript, AI notes and shareable clips, and lets teammates be tagged at specific moments for feedback (tl;dv recruiting). It hosts its services in the European Economic Area and says customer content is not used to train its models (tl;dv privacy), which matters to many European hiring teams. Its Greenhouse integration posts AI interview summaries, transcripts and timestamped recording links to the candidate's Activity Feed (tl;dv Greenhouse). For setup, see our tl;dv for recruiting review.
Why do recruiters look for a tl;dv alternative?
- The bot is the default. The Notetaker joins through calendar auto-recording and the host must admit it (tl;dv help).
- Bot-free means audio only. The desktop app records without a bot, but with no video, screen share or chat (tl;dv help), so the clip sharing that makes tl;dv attractive is limited to recordings made with the bot.
- Free AI notes run out. The free plan includes AI notes for ten meetings over the account's lifetime; after that, only the first ten minutes of each meeting get AI notes (tl;dv help).
- One ATS. Greenhouse is the only applicant tracking system on its integrations page.
- Phone screens are a beta. Aircall and Zoom Phone integrations upload call recordings and are in private beta (tl;dv help); caller integrations sit on Business and Enterprise (tl;dv pricing).

Do you really need video clips of candidates?
Clips are tl;dv's signature feature, and they make a hiring manager's life easier. They also put a candidate's face and voice in front of people who never met them, out of context, often with no end date. Before you pick a replacement on clip features, decide what your process needs:
- Evidence for a decision: a quote with a timestamp usually does the job, and text is easier to keep to a retention period.
- A hiring manager who missed the call: a short clip may help, shared inside the ATS rather than as an open link. BrightHire says its interview highlights are playable in the ATS (BrightHire).
- Training interviewers: use clips of interviewers, with the candidate's agreement, and delete them after the session.
For candidates in the UK or EU, a video clip is personal data like the transcript. Our UK GDPR guide covers the notice and retention questions to settle first.
Each alternative, and who it suits
Jamie
Jamie records on Mac and Windows with no bot, and says audio is deleted once the transcript is ready and that processing happens exclusively within the EU (Jamie). Best for: European hiring managers who want tl;dv's data location without the bot or the recordings.
Bluedot
Bluedot stores content in the EU by default, records without a bot through its desktop app or Chrome extension, and syncs a recommendation, summary and recording link to Ashby (Bluedot help). Best for: EU teams on Ashby.
Greenhouse Notetaker
If tl;dv's only ATS link was the reason you chose it, Greenhouse's own note taker may be simpler: it joins Zoom, Meet and Teams interviews and drafts notes against each scorecard question (Greenhouse). Best for: Greenhouse customers who want one fewer vendor. More in AI note takers for Greenhouse.
Fireflies
Fireflies lists seven native ATS integrations and captures phone calls through its desktop app (Fireflies). Data is stored in the US by default. Best for: teams outside the EU, or with an approved US transfer, who need more than Greenhouse.
Metaview
Metaview is built for recruiting and lists a long catalogue of applicant tracking systems, with a botless desktop app for Mac and Windows since October 12, 2026 (Metaview). Best for: recruiting teams on an ATS other than Greenhouse.
BrightHire
BrightHire runs inside Zoom without a per-call bot, drafts ATS scorecards, and keeps highlights inside the ATS (BrightHire). Best for: in-house teams who want shareable moments without open links.
Interview Signal
Ours never sends a bot and keeps transcripts, quotes and notes on the recruiter's own computer; audio goes to a speech-to-text provider in short chunks during the call and is not retained (security). It builds a scorecard with quotes checked against the transcript and a client submittal. Weaknesses: no ATS integration, no video recording or clips, desktop only, few public reviews yet. Best for: recruiters who want evidence for a decision rather than clips to share.
How do I move off tl;dv cleanly?
- Check what tl;dv still holds. Its privacy policy says recordings are kept for three months on the free plan and until account deletion on paid plans (tl;dv privacy). A paid workspace you stop using can keep years of candidate recordings.
- Keep only what your policy requires. Move the summaries you need into your ATS, then delete the rest. Our guide to keeping interview notes helps set the period.
- Remove the calendar connection so the Notetaker stops joining interviews once the new tool is live.
- Revoke shared clip links you no longer need, especially any sent to people outside the hiring team.
- Update candidate notices and your privacy notice to name the new tool and where it stores data.
When should you stay with tl;dv?
Stay if you are on Greenhouse, a bot joining your interviews is acceptable, and EU hosting plus shareable video clips are what your hiring managers value most. Few tools combine those three. Move if the bot costs you candidates, if your ATS is not Greenhouse, or if phone screens are a big part of your week. For the general bot-free options, see AI note takers without a bot.
Questions people ask
What is the best tl;dv alternative for recruiters in Europe?
As of October 2026, Jamie and Bluedot are the closest EU-focused options. Jamie processes audio in Frankfurt, deletes it after transcription and says processing stays in the EU; Bluedot stores customer content in the EU by default and has a native Ashby integration. tl;dv itself hosts its services in the European Economic Area.
Is tl;dv's free plan enough for recruiting?
Only for a short trial. tl;dv's free plan includes unlimited recordings but AI notes for ten meetings, and its help center says those limits apply over the account's lifetime, after which only the first ten minutes of each meeting get AI notes. Free recordings are kept for up to three months, as of October 2026.
Which tl;dv alternatives work with Greenhouse?
Greenhouse's own Notetaker joins Zoom, Meet and Teams interviews for customers on Core, Plus and Pro, and Fireflies, Metaview and BrightHire all list Greenhouse integrations, as of October 2026. tl;dv's Greenhouse integration posts summaries, transcripts and recording links to the candidate's activity feed.
Can tl;dv record phone screens?
Only through integrations in private beta. tl;dv's help center describes Aircall and Zoom Phone integrations that upload call recordings, and its pricing table lists caller integrations on Business and Enterprise. Alternatives that capture phone screens routed through the computer include Fireflies and Interview Signal.
