Scribbl is an AI meeting notetaker that records Google Meet through a Chrome extension and Zoom and Microsoft Teams through its Scribbl Desktop app, with no bot joining the call. For recruiting, that means the candidate sees an ordinary interview and you get AI notes, a transcript with speaker names and the video afterwards, free for 10 meetings a month or $13 per user per month on Pro billed annually, as of October 2026. It does not capture phone screens or in-person interviews, has no applicant tracking system (ATS) integration and leaves scorecards to ChatGPT or Claude, so it suits recruiters and hiring managers whose interviews all happen on those three video platforms.
Every fact about Scribbl below comes from Scribbl's own site and help pages, checked in October 2026 and linked. Scribbl also publishes its own guide to AI notetakers for recruiters, which ranks Scribbl first; this page is a read for people who hire, built from Scribbl's product and help pages rather than its marketing.
How does Scribbl capture an interview?
Scribbl uses two pieces of software, depending on the platform the interview runs on (Scribbl help center):
- Google Meet: the Scribbl Chrome extension records inside your Meet tab. Its Google Meet setup guide says it works on a free Gmail account, as a guest and when you are not the host, and that the only sign of it is a small bar at the top of your own tab.
- Zoom and Microsoft Teams: Scribbl Desktop records from your own computer. The Zoom setup guide says the app watches for a supported meeting window and starts recording on its own when a call opens, so there is no button to remember. The Teams setup guide adds that there is nothing for Teams to hold in the lobby, because no bot is sent.
Two requirements decide whether a recruiting team can use the desktop half at all. Scribbl Desktop needs a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or newer) or a PC with 64-bit Windows 10 or 11; there is no build for Intel Macs, so on an older Mac you get Google Meet only. And Scribbl says its Windows installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen shows a warning during installation (Scribbl Desktop page). If your IT team blocks unsigned software, settle that before a pilot rather than on the morning of a client interview.
The automatic start is handy on a day of back-to-back screens, but it also means recording begins as the call opens, before you have said anything about it. Meet, Zoom and Teams show their own recording notices only when their own recorders run, so none of them shows one for Scribbl, and Scribbl's privacy and security page tells users to announce the recording themselves. The setup section below turns that into a habit.
What does a recruiter get after the call?
Scribbl's help page on meeting output lists six things on one page for every meeting: a short summary, the decisions, action items with an owner and a due date, a transcript with speaker names and times, the video recording, and each person's share of talk time. Clicking a line in the transcript jumps the video to that moment. You can pick a template or describe one in plain words, and switching templates rewrites an existing meeting's notes in the new format.
The features that matter more for hiring sit on top of that:
- Smart Collections sort meetings by a one-sentence description, so every interview for one requisition can gather in one place without manual filing.
- AI chat on each meeting (one question per meeting on Free, unlimited on Pro), and on Pro a read-only connector that lets Claude or ChatGPT search across your recorded meetings (Claude and ChatGPT connector).
- Automations that draft a follow-up email, post a summary to Slack or Microsoft Teams, or save notes to Google Drive, Notion or Confluence when a meeting lands in a collection. By default they ask before changing anything, and emails wait for you to send them.
- More than 85 transcription languages, with notes written in a different language from the meeting if you want them.
What Scribbl does not produce is recruiting output of its own. There is no question guide during the call, no scorecard and no client submittal in the product. Its recruiter guide says that on Pro you connect Scribbl to ChatGPT or Claude, ask it to draft the scorecard and debrief in your format, and paste the result into your ATS.
How much does Scribbl cost for a recruiter?
Prices from Scribbl's pricing page and plans and limits page, as of October 2026. The last column is our arithmetic, so you can see what the limits mean for an interview calendar.
| Plan | Price per person | Limits that matter | What it means for interviews |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0, no card | 10 meetings a month, no limit on length, 1 AI chat question per meeting, 3 Automations runs | About two interviews a week; long panels are fine because length is not capped |
| Pro | $13/month billed annually ($156 a year), or $20 monthly | Unlimited meetings and AI chat; Claude and ChatGPT; HubSpot, Pipedrive, Slack, Asana, Monday and Google Drive; 50 Automations runs | A full-time recruiter's calendar for $156 a year |
| Team, 3 or more people | $20/month billed annually, or $29 monthly | Everything in Pro, seats and admins, Automations across teammates' meetings once each person agrees | Three recruiters: 3 × $20 × 12 = $720 a year |
| Team, 1 or 2 people | $50/month, or $600 a year | Same as Team | Two Pro seats cost far less if you do not need shared collections |
Because the free plan counts meetings rather than minutes, a hiring manager who interviews a few times a month can stay on it. A recruiter running ten screens a week reaches the cap in the first week, and Pro is the realistic plan.
Where does Scribbl stop for recruiting?
These gaps come from what Scribbl's own pages describe as of October 2026. Check again before deciding, since the product changes quickly.
- No phone screens. Scribbl names Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams only. A screen on a mobile, a softphone, WhatsApp or Webex is not covered. If many of your screens are calls, see how to record a phone screen.
- No in-person interviews. We found no in-person or microphone-only recording mode on Scribbl's pages.
- No ATS integration. The integrations page lists Google Drive, Slack, HubSpot, Asana, Monday, Claude and ChatGPT, and no applicant tracking system. Notes reach Greenhouse, Lever or Bullhorn by copy and paste.
- Scorecards are a prompt, not a feature. A chat model can draft one, but nothing in Scribbl checks that a quote it uses appears in the transcript. Read every quote before it goes anywhere; AI note taker hallucinations explains what to look for.
- It keeps the video. Each meeting stores the video next to the transcript and notes in your Scribbl account (transcript data help). For candidates, video is more personal data to hold, share and eventually delete.
- Deletion runs through email. The privacy page says you email Scribbl to request access, correction or deletion of personal information, and that Scribbl cannot delete your personal information without also deleting your account. Ask how to remove one candidate's interview on request before you rely on it.
- US storage. Scribbl stores and processes data in the United States, with Standard Contractual Clauses for data from the EEA and UK. If you interview there, read where AI note takers store interview data first.
On the other side of the ledger, Scribbl says recordings are private until you share them and that it does not use your meetings to train AI for anyone other than you.
How does Scribbl compare with what recruiting needs?
| What you need | Scribbl, as of October 2026 | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| How it captures the call | Chrome extension on Google Meet; desktop app on Zoom and Teams | Apple silicon Mac or 64-bit Windows for Zoom and Teams |
| Bot or no bot | No bot on any of the three | The candidate gets no automatic notice either |
| Phone screens | Not supported | A second tool, or your phone system's recording |
| In-person interviews | Not described | Not covered |
| ATS links | None listed; copy and paste | The note format your ATS expects |
| Scorecards and submittals | Drafted through ChatGPT or Claude on Pro | Quotes checked against the transcript by you |
| Published price | Free for 10 meetings a month; Pro $13 a month billed annually or $20 monthly; Team $20 or $29 for 3 or more | Whether 10 free meetings covers your calendar |
| Best for | Recruiters and hiring managers whose interviews are all on Meet, Zoom or Teams | How many of your screens are phone calls |

A setup that makes Scribbl work for candidate calls
- Say the consent line first. Scribbl Desktop starts when the call opens, so your first sentence is already captured. Make it the notice: "I record interviews so I can listen properly rather than type. Is that all right with you?" Our consent script has wording for all-party consent states. If a candidate says no, stop and delete the recording.
- Build one template for screens. Describe it to Scribbl in plain words: competencies with evidence, compensation expectation, notice period, work authorization, location, other processes and open questions. Leave out ratings and anything about appearance, age, accent, family or health.
- Make one Smart Collection per open role. A sentence such as "interviews with candidates for the payroll specialist role" keeps a requisition's calls together for the debrief and for the Claude or ChatGPT connector.
- Draft the scorecard, then check it. On Pro, ask Claude or ChatGPT through the connector to map evidence to your competencies with exact quotes and timestamps, and to write "no evidence" where there is none. Our interview scorecard template gives the structure. Keep the rating yourself.
- Share text, not recordings. A shared meeting link carries the notes, the transcript and the video. For a hiring manager or a client, paste the summary and checked quotes instead.
- Set a deletion habit. Decide how long you keep interview recordings, write it down, and put a monthly reminder in your calendar to clear old ones.
Who should choose Scribbl for recruiting?
A good fit if:
- Every interview you run is on Google Meet, Zoom or Teams, and you want nothing in the participant list.
- You are a hiring manager or founder interviewing a few times a month, where ten free meetings may be enough.
- You already use Claude or ChatGPT and are comfortable writing your own scorecard prompts.
- You want a low paid price: $156 a year per person on Pro.
Look elsewhere if:
- Phone screens or in-person interviews are a large part of your week.
- You need notes written into your ATS without copying.
- You write client submittals every day and want the draft produced for you.
- Your team uses Intel Macs or blocks unsigned Windows installers.
We make Interview Signal, a Windows and macOS desktop app that also captures interviews with no bot and adds phone screens taken through the computer, a live question guide, a scorecard whose quotes are checked against the transcript and a client submittal, though it costs more than Scribbl and has no ATS integration either; everything about Scribbl on this page comes from Scribbl's own site, linked and dated. Our side-by-side comparison covers where Scribbl is the better choice, and AI note takers without a bot covers the wider field.
Questions people ask
Does Scribbl join interviews as a bot?
No. As of October 2026, Scribbl records Google Meet through its Chrome extension and Zoom and Microsoft Teams through its Scribbl Desktop app on your own computer, so nothing appears in the participant list. The meeting platforms also show no recording notice for Scribbl, so you need to tell the candidate yourself.
Can Scribbl record a phone screen?
Not according to its own pages. As of October 2026 Scribbl names only Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, so screens on a mobile phone, a softphone, WhatsApp or Webex need a different tool or your phone system's own recording.
Does Scribbl integrate with an ATS like Greenhouse or Bullhorn?
No. Scribbl's integrations page lists tools such as HubSpot, Slack, Google Drive, Asana and Monday, plus Claude and ChatGPT, but no applicant tracking system as of October 2026. Scribbl's own recruiter guide suggests drafting the scorecard with ChatGPT or Claude and pasting it into the ATS by hand.
Is Scribbl's free plan enough for a recruiter?
For a hiring manager it often is; for a full-time recruiter it rarely is. The free plan covers 10 meetings a month with no limit on meeting length, which is about two interviews a week. Pro costs $13 per user per month billed annually, or $20 monthly, and removes the meeting cap, as of October 2026.
