BambooHR is an HR system first and an applicant tracking system second, and its hiring module reflects that. As of October 2026 its applicant tracking pages describe candidate records, a notes tab for collaborators, interview self-scheduling, email templates and offer letters, but nothing that records, transcribes or summarizes a live interview. If you want AI notes on BambooHR candidates, you are choosing an integration.
Four notetakers document a BambooHR connection on their own sites: Metaview, BrightHire, Noota and Fireflies. They differ in where the note lands, how calls are matched to candidates, and what setup needs from your BambooHR admin. This page compares them and lists what to test first. Every vendor fact links to the page we checked.
What BambooHR does natively
- Candidate record and collaboration: BambooHR's pricing page describes a candidate record holding contact details, resumes, application responses, status and rating, and its applicant tracking page describes team collaboration and in-system messaging on candidates. Notes on the candidate are where most integrations aim their output.
- Interview self-scheduling: BambooHR's applicant tracking page describes candidates choosing from preset interview times, with automated confirmations. It does not describe recording the interview that follows.
- AI Assistant: the pricing page describes an AI Assistant for everyday HR questions and data analysis, not interview notes.
- Plans: the same pricing page lists Core, Pro and Elite, with 5, 25 and 50 job openings respectively. For companies of 25 employees or fewer it quotes flat rates of $250, $425 and $650 a month; above 25 employees, from $10.25, $17.50 and $25 per employee per month.
The job-opening limits matter more than they first appear. A team on Core with five openings is unlikely to justify an enterprise interview intelligence contract, while a team on Elite running fifty roles may.
Integrations, compared
As documented on each vendor's own help center or integration page, as of October 2026.
| Tool | Documented by | What reaches BambooHR | Published pricing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metaview | Metaview help center | Notes posted with one click; links to Metaview notes added automatically | Free 25 calls/mo; Pro $60/user/mo (pricing) |
| BrightHire | BrightHire integrations page | Listed as "Bamboo"; the page does not detail what is written | Quote-only |
| Noota | Noota integration page | Interview summary exported as a note; can fill individual candidate fields | Check Noota's site |
| Fireflies | Fireflies integration page | Summaries and action items logged in the notes section | Check Fireflies' site |
We searched BambooHR's own integrations marketplace for these four and did not find listings for them, so the documentation is on the vendors' side. That is common, but it means BambooHR support will usually send you back to the vendor if something breaks.
Metaview in detail
- Connection: an admin starts the connection from Metaview's settings and logs in to BambooHR with the company subdomain and admin credentials. Metaview says setup can take up to 48 hours and it emails you when done.
- Kombo in the middle: the connection is authorized through Kombo, which Metaview names as a subprocessor. Add it to your vendor records alongside Metaview.
- Permissions: required access covers jobs, candidates, applications, stages, users and rejection reasons. Adding notes and links to an application is listed as optional, so check it is enabled if you want notes to post.
- No scheduling from BambooHR: Metaview says it does not schedule calls from BambooHR. It matches calls booked through your calendar to the right candidate, and lists missing or duplicate candidates and the wrong meeting type as common reasons a match fails.
- Phone: Metaview's phone calls guide describes registering your outbound number and calling through Metaview from the browser or your phone.
Noota, Fireflies and BrightHire
Noota is the most specific about field mapping: its page says it can fill individual candidate fields such as technical skills and salary expectations, not just drop a note. That is useful if your BambooHR candidate record has custom fields, but test that the right field gets the right value before relying on it.
Fireflies describes logging summaries and action items in the notes section. It is a general meeting notetaker, so the summary format is less recruiting-specific unless you configure it. Our Fireflies for recruiting guide covers the setup choices.
BrightHire lists BambooHR on its integrations page but does not describe what it writes there. Its headline ATS features, such as scorecard completion from the ATS, are described for its integrations in general, so ask BrightHire which apply to BambooHR before you assume them.
Where notes land, and why it matters in BambooHR
BambooHR's notes tab is a shared conversation. Every integration above that writes a note is adding to the same thread that hiring managers use to comment on a candidate. A few practical consequences:
- Length: a long AI summary can bury short human comments. Set the notetaker's template to something a hiring manager can read in a minute.
- Visibility: collaborators see what is shared with them. Check that a summary does not expose details, such as salary history or health information a candidate volunteered, to people who should not see it.
- The decision trail: BambooHR's candidate history shows status and rating changes. A note that says "strong yes" is not a rating; someone still needs to update the candidate's status and rating in BambooHR.
Our guide to writing candidate notes in your ATS covers what to strip out of a summary before it is saved.
The phone-screen gap
BambooHR does not describe a built-in phone system, and Noota and Fireflies describe their BambooHR integrations in terms of scheduled meetings. If your first round is a phone call from a recruiter's mobile, the realistic options are Metaview's phone capture, a phone system with its own recording, or a standalone notetaker. Our guide to recording a phone screen sets out the trade-offs.
What it costs, as an example
An illustrative example from published prices as of October 2026, not a quote. A 20-person company on BambooHR Pro with three people who interview:
BambooHR Pro (25 employees or fewer): $425/month flat
includes up to 25 job openings
Notetaker options for 3 interviewers:
Metaview Free: $0 (25 calls per user per month)
Metaview Pro: $60 × 3 = $180/month
Noota, Fireflies: check each vendor's current pricing
BrightHire: quote-only
At this size, a free tier is often enough to learn whether notes in BambooHR change how quickly hiring managers decide. Our notetaker pricing guide compares tiers in more detail.
What to test before rollout
| Check | Pass looks like | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Matching | Calls booked from personal calendars attach to the right BambooHR candidate and job | |
| Write permission | The optional "add notes" permission is enabled and notes actually appear | |
| Field mapping (Noota) | Filled fields hold the right value, not a paraphrase in the wrong field | |
| Collaborator visibility | Only the hiring team sees the summary | |
| Rating still updated | Interviewers still set status and rating in BambooHR | |
| Deletion | A candidate's recording and transcript can be deleted in the notetaker and the note removed in BambooHR |

Standalone tools, and who each option suits
Interview Signal has no BambooHR integration. It is a desktop app with no bot that captures audio on the interviewer's computer, including phone screens, and exports a scorecard quoting the candidate that you paste into the BambooHR notes tab. If you want notes written automatically, choose one of the integrations above.
- Metaview: small teams that want a free tier, one-click posting and phone capture.
- Noota: teams that want summaries mapped into specific candidate fields.
- Fireflies: companies already using it for other meetings that want one notetaker across the business.
- BrightHire: larger hiring teams that want an interview intelligence platform and can confirm its BambooHR feature set in a demo.
- A standalone tool: phone-heavy screening, or interviewers who do not want a bot joining calls.
Questions people ask
Does BambooHR have a built-in AI notetaker for interviews?
Not that we could find as of October 2026. BambooHR's applicant tracking pages describe candidate records, collaborator notes, interview self-scheduling, email templates and offer letters, but no recording, transcription or summary of live interviews. Its AI Assistant is described for HR questions and data, not interviews.
Where do Metaview notes land in BambooHR?
Metaview's help center says notes can be posted to the candidate's BambooHR record with one click, and links to Metaview notes are added automatically. The connection is authorized through Kombo, a Metaview subprocessor, and needs your BambooHR subdomain and admin credentials. Metaview does not schedule calls from BambooHR, so it matches calls booked through your calendar.
Do Noota and Fireflies integrate with BambooHR?
Both describe BambooHR integrations on their own sites as of October 2026. Noota says it exports the interview summary as a note to BambooHR and can fill individual candidate fields. Fireflies says it logs interview insights, action items and summaries in the notes section of the candidate profile.
Which BambooHR plan do I need for a notetaker integration?
None of the notetaker pages we checked names a BambooHR plan requirement. BambooHR's own plans differ mainly in how many job openings you can run: 5 on Core, 25 on Pro and 50 on Elite, per its pricing page. Check with the notetaker vendor whether its connection needs API access your account has.
