Clockwork Recruiting, the platform for boutique retained executive search firms, has no built-in notetaker as of October 2026, but its partner page lists two: Metaview and CoRecruit (formerly Quil). Both connect through Clockwork's API, which is a premium Clockwork feature, and both write notes to the Notes on a person record. That matters more in Clockwork than in most systems, because Clockwork's own AI, CAI, reads the last two years of notes when it rates and assesses candidates.
This page covers what Clockwork builds in, how each partner connects and writes, how to get notes in without an integration, and what a search firm should check before a consultant records a candidate call. We make Interview Signal, one of the tools below; everything about the other products comes from their own sites, linked and dated. For the wider search market, see our executive search notetaker guide.
What AI does Clockwork build in?
Clockwork's AI features page and help center describe AI that works on your search data rather than on calls, as of October 2026:
- CAI ratings and assessment notes: the CAI article says CAI uses the resume, biography, work history, contact details, notes from the last two years and email data from a connected Microsoft 365 or Google account. It rates up to 50 candidates at a time, needs the project's revenue range and funding stage, and its notes "should be considered draft documentation" for a user to review.
- AI candidate summary notes: a high-level summary of a candidate's profile and background (help article).
- Search set-up: generative position briefings, research and benchmark criteria, and leadership traits.
- MCP server: Clockwork connects Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants to your search data for reporting and business development.
The practical point: interview notes are an input to CAI. Clean, evidence-based notes improve its assessments, and a wrong AI-written note can carry into a rating. Review AI notes before they are saved.
On price, Clockwork's pricing page describes one plan with all features. The page's own search description gives $180 per user per month billed annually, but the figure does not appear in the page body, so confirm it with Clockwork.
Which AI notetakers does Clockwork list?
Clockwork's partners and integrations page lists, as of October 2026:
- Metaview, under "AI Note Taking."
- CoRecruit (formerly Quil), marked "Integrates With Clockwork," which captures calls, interviews and meetings and syncs data to Clockwork. The pricing page still lists it as Quil, an AI virtual meeting assistant that sends templated notes to Clockwork.
- Simsola AI, which Clockwork describes as turning candidate conversations into structured, evidence-based signals on communication, execution, work level and critical thinking.
- Spark Hire and DeepHire for candidate videos.
SourceWhale also lists Clockwork on its integrations page; its notetaker records video meetings.
How do Metaview and CoRecruit compare on Clockwork?
As published on each vendor's own pages, as of October 2026.
| Option | How it captures | Bot? | Phone calls | Where it writes in Clockwork | Published price | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Metaview | Joins video calls; phone through a registered number or browser calling (phone guide) | Yes on video | Yes | Notes and links on the matched person; one-click posting | Free 25 calls/month; Pro $60/user/month (pricing) | Firms whose candidate conversations are mostly scheduled video calls |
| CoRecruit | Zoom, Teams, Webex, RingCentral, enterprise VoIP; plans add cell phone, WhatsApp and in person (pricing page) | No visible bot | Yes, including mobile | Notes section on the person record; note activity types; compensation and biography fields; attachments | Starter from $85/user/month on a 12-month term, or $64 paid annually upfront | Consultants who take candidate calls on their mobiles |
| Interview Signal | Desktop app records the interviewer's own computer audio | No bot | Yes, if the call runs through the computer | None; paste into a note | Free 20 minutes; Solo $49/month; Team $59/seat/month (pricing) | Consultants who want a scorecard with quotes and nothing joining the call |
Connecting Metaview
Metaview's Clockwork guide says Clockwork API access is a premium feature: if you cannot see the API Keys section on your Clockwork profile, ask your account manager to enable it. You then create an API key and secret key (the secret is shown only once), copy the firm service key, and take your firm slug from your Clockwork URL. Metaview matches calls to people in Clockwork, posts notes and links back with one click, syncs employees, enriches profiles and supports sourcing from your database. It is a direct connection with no third-party integration partner. Clockwork keys are all-or-nothing, so the same keys also grant the optional access Metaview lists, such as creating people and writing profile data.
Connecting CoRecruit
CoRecruit's Clockwork help article asks for the same four values and says notes appear in the Notes section of the person record selected for the meeting; the integration links only to People. You can set a Clockwork note activity type per meeting type, and it can fill Current Compensation, Compensation Bonus, Compensation Description and Biography, and upload follow-up documents as attachments. CoRecruit's Clockwork page names Zoom, Teams, Webex, RingCentral and enterprise VoIP as capture sources.
How do you get notes into Clockwork without an integration?
Clockwork's help center documents three routes:
- Person Panel notes. The Notes and Email view article says you click Notes, then the plus button, choose a note template and note type, and choose whether the note is saved to the person record or a candidate record on a project. You can @mention colleagues and #link a company, project or deal.
- Pendulum email. The Pendulum article says BCC'ing your Pendulum address saves a copy of an email as a note on the person's record. Send from your Clockwork login address to an address saved on the person's record. Each project has its own Pendulum address that ties the note to that search.
- Email integration. With Microsoft 365 or Google connected, emails to and from a person are saved to their Emails tab on a two-hour fetch (email integration).
One caution for search firms: the Person Panel article describes a visibility toggle on project notes, with a green indicator when it is on. Check what that toggle shows in your client portal before you file a raw AI interview summary as a project note. Keep the client-facing version in your candidate report; our executive search candidate report template shows one.
What should a search firm check for privacy and consent?
- Discretion first. Many executive candidates are employed and talking in confidence. A bot named in the meeting is visible to the candidate; a botless tool is not, so the consultant must say it is recording. Use one consent line.
- International candidates. Search work crosses borders. UK and EU candidates bring GDPR duties on lawful basis, notice and retention; see our UK GDPR recording guide.
- API key custody. Clockwork keys are all-or-nothing. Create them from a firm-owned admin profile, store them securely, and revoke them when you leave a vendor.
- Notes feed CAI. Anything saved as a note can shape CAI ratings. Keep speculation and protected characteristics out of notes entirely.
What should you test before rollout?
| Check | Pass looks like | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Person matching | The note lands on the right person, not a namesake at another company | |
| Project context | Notes from a search conversation are tied to that project's candidacy | |
| Activity type | Notes use the note type your firm analytics count | |
| Client visibility | Nothing from the notetaker appears in the client portal unless you choose it | |
| Compensation fields | Current compensation and bonus match what the candidate said | |
| Deletion | A GDPR erasure request removes the notetaker's recording and transcript too |
Which option fits which Clockwork firm?
- Metaview: best for firms whose candidate and client conversations are mostly scheduled video calls, and that want a free tier to trial before committing.
- CoRecruit: best for consultants who take confidential calls on their mobiles and want compensation fields and biography updated, accepting a 12-month term.
- Pendulum and Person Panel notes with a standalone tool: best for small firms that want to keep candidate conversations off another vendor's cloud.
Interview Signal is a standalone, paste-in option with no Clockwork integration. It is a desktop app for Windows and macOS with no bot, so nothing joins the call, and it captures phone calls taken through the computer the same way as video. It produces a scorecard where each score carries the candidate's own quotes, checked against the transcript, and keeps transcripts on the consultant's computer; you paste the result into a Person Panel note. Its ready-made ATS note formats are for Bullhorn, Greenhouse, Lever and JobAdder only. It is desktop only, newer with few public reviews, and does not record video. Our CoRecruit alternatives page compares CoRecruit with other recruiting notetakers, including Metaview, and our AI notetaker for Ezekia page covers the same choice on another search platform.
Questions people ask
Does Clockwork Recruiting have a built-in AI notetaker?
No, as of October 2026. Clockwork's own AI, called CAI, writes candidate ratings and assessment notes from the person record, and it can generate AI candidate summary notes, position briefs and benchmark criteria. For recording and summarizing calls, Clockwork's partner page lists Metaview and CoRecruit (formerly Quil).
Which AI notetakers integrate with Clockwork Recruiting?
Clockwork's partners page lists Metaview under AI note taking and CoRecruit, formerly Quil, as integrating with Clockwork, as of October 2026. Both document the setup in their own help centers. SourceWhale also lists Clockwork on its integrations page, and Clockwork lists Simsola, which turns candidate conversations into assessment signals.
Do I need Clockwork API access to connect a notetaker?
Yes. Metaview's Clockwork guide says API access is a premium Clockwork feature and that you need an API key, secret key, firm service key and firm slug; if you cannot see the API Keys section, ask your Clockwork account manager to enable it. CoRecruit's guide asks for the same four values and says API access may need to be enabled.
Can I email interview notes into Clockwork?
Yes, as a note. Clockwork's Pendulum mail hook saves a copy of an email you send to a person as a note on their record when you BCC your Pendulum address, sending from your Clockwork login address to an email saved on the person's record. Each search project also has its own Pendulum address to tie the note to that project.
