Rippling Recruiting has its own notetaker. Rippling's Interview Assistant records interviews and puts the recording, transcript and an AI summary next to the candidate profile, and Rippling says it is live for all Recruiting Pro customers. For teams on Recruiting Core, or teams that want an interview intelligence platform rather than a built-in feature, BrightHire installs from the Rippling App Store. Those are the two paths we could confirm as of October 2026.

The interesting part of Rippling's approach is permissions. Because the ATS runs on the same employee data as Rippling's HR system, who can watch which interview follows your org chart automatically. This page covers both options, the plan gate, and what to test. Every vendor fact links to the page we checked.

Rippling's Interview Assistant

  • What it is: Rippling's Interview Assistant announcement (updated July 29, 2025) describes recordings, transcripts and AI summaries that "live directly in Rippling's ATS".
  • Scorecards: transcripts and summaries sit alongside the candidate profile so interviewers can draft feedback with quotes. Rippling does not describe it filling the scorecard for them.
  • Panel context: hiring managers can review recordings and summaries from other interviewers' rounds, not just their own.
  • Permissions by org data: access and recording policies can be set by role, department or location and update as people move.
  • Candidate opt-out: Rippling says every interviewee can opt out of recording.
  • Interview metrics: leaders can see measures such as start times and camera usage, and can choose to record only interviewers flagged on metrics like candidate survey scores.
  • Plan: "live for all Recruiting Pro customers". Rippling directs Recruiting Core customers to book a demo. Ask Rippling for current Recruiting Pro pricing.

Rippling also has AI candidate feedback summaries, which condense all interviewers' feedback forms into one summary of pros and cons. Rippling says the summary appears in the Feedback tab of the candidate profile and in the approval workflow when a hire goes for final sign-off. That summarizes what interviewers wrote, not what the candidate said, so the two features work in sequence: Interview Assistant helps interviewers write better feedback, and the feedback summary condenses it for approvers.

The sequence matters for quality. If interviewers paste an AI interview summary straight into their feedback form, the feedback summary ends up summarizing a summary, and the approver loses the interviewer's own judgment. Ask interviewers to write their assessment in their own words, quoting the transcript where it supports a point.

What we could not confirm about Interview Assistant

  • Platforms: the announcement does not name the video platforms supported or whether phone calls are covered.
  • How it joins: it does not say whether a visible participant joins the call.
  • Retention defaults: it describes permissions but not how long recordings are kept by default.

These are the first three questions to put to your Rippling account team. The answers decide whether phone screens need a second tool and whether candidates will see a bot.

A short list to send in writing, so the answers can be filed with your vendor records:

  1. Which video platforms does Interview Assistant capture, and does it record phone calls or in-person interviews?
  2. Does it join as a visible participant, and can its display name be changed?
  3. How does a candidate opt out, and what does the candidate see before the interview?
  4. What are the default retention periods for recordings and transcripts, and can they differ by location?
  5. Which subprocessors handle transcription and summarization, and in which regions?
  6. What does moving from Recruiting Core to Recruiting Pro cost for our headcount?

BrightHire on Rippling

  • Installation: Rippling's BrightHire announcement (March 2024) says to download the BrightHire app from the Rippling App Store, and BrightHire's integrations page lists Rippling as of October 2026.
  • Capture: BrightHire joins Zoom, Google Meet or Teams interviews automatically to record and transcribe. The announcement says BrightHire records phone and video interviews.
  • Scope: you choose which departments or roles to record.
  • Output: recording, transcript, AI interview notes and candidate highlights in BrightHire, with BrightHire links added to the interviews in Rippling.
  • Sign-in: single sign-on through the Rippling dashboard.
  • Price: BrightHire is quote-only.

BrightHire's integrations page describes features such as scorecard completion from the ATS and click-to-call across its ATS integrations in general. Ask which of those apply to Rippling specifically; the Rippling announcement describes links, automatic joining and SSO.

Native versus BrightHire: how to decide

If you needStart with
Recordings governed by the same permissions as the rest of RipplingInterview Assistant
One fewer vendor and contractInterview Assistant, if you are on Recruiting Pro
Phone screens recorded, per the vendor's own descriptionBrightHire
An interview intelligence platform you may keep if you change ATSBrightHire
Recruiting Core without upgradingBrightHire, or a standalone tool

If you are on Recruiting Core, compare the cost of moving to Recruiting Pro with the cost of a BrightHire contract. The upgrade may include other features you want; the BrightHire contract travels with you if you ever leave Rippling.

Permissions: the part to get right

Rippling's pitch is that recording access can follow role, department and location. That is powerful, and easy to get subtly wrong. Before switching recording on:

  1. Write down who should see what. For example: recruiters see all recordings for their requisitions; hiring managers see their own department; HR admins see everything; executive interviews are restricted.
  2. Check edge cases: cross-functional panels, interim managers, and interviewers from another department.
  3. Test with real accounts, logging in as a hiring manager to confirm they cannot open another department's recordings.
  4. Decide retention separately for recordings and transcripts. Our guide on how long to keep interview notes covers the considerations.

The phone-screen gap

If Interview Assistant turns out not to cover phone calls, first-round screens will need another route. Rippling's BrightHire announcement says BrightHire records phone interviews. Otherwise, see our guide to recording a phone screen, and keep a short manual note format for calls nothing captures.

What to test before rollout

CheckPass looks likeResult
PermissionsA hiring manager cannot open recordings outside their scope
Opt-outA candidate who opts out is not recorded, and the interview still runs normally
Platform coverageEvery video platform your team uses is captured
Phone coveragePhone screens are captured or documented manually
Scorecards still doneInterviewers submit their own scores with quotes, not just a link to the summary
DeletionA candidate's recording and transcript can be deleted on request

A feedback format that works with both features

[Interview round] – [Role] – [Date]

My rating: [per the Rippling feedback form]

Evidence (quote the transcript):
- [Focus area]: "[candidate's words]" (timestamp)
- [Focus area]: "[candidate's words]" (timestamp)

What I did not get to test: [ ]
Concerns for the next round: [ ]
Recording: [Yes / candidate opted out]

Timestamps let an approver jump to the moment in the recording if they have access, and the "did not get to test" line stops a feedback summary from reading silence as weakness. Our guide to evidence-based feedback has more examples.

  • Say it at the start, whatever the tool. Our consent script has wording.
  • Calls across state lines: recruiters often call candidates in other states. Our guide to recording calls across state lines covers all-party consent states.
  • Interviewers too: employees on the panel are being recorded as well; tell them what is captured and who can watch it.

Standalone tools, and who each option suits

Interview Signal has no Rippling integration. It is a desktop app with no bot that captures audio on the interviewer's computer, including phone screens, and exports a scorecard quoting the candidate that you paste into Rippling's scorecard or notes.

  • Interview Assistant: Recruiting Pro customers who want recordings governed by Rippling's org-based permissions.
  • BrightHire: teams on Recruiting Core, teams that need phone recording, or teams wanting an interview intelligence platform independent of their ATS.
  • A standalone tool: interviewers who prefer no bot, or teams waiting on a Recruiting Pro decision.

Questions people ask

Does Rippling have a built-in AI notetaker?

Yes, on Recruiting Pro. Rippling's blog describes Interview Assistant, part of Rippling Recruiting, which provides interview recordings, transcripts and AI summaries alongside the candidate profile, and says it is live for all Recruiting Pro customers. Customers on Recruiting Core are directed to book a demo.

Can Rippling restrict who sees interview recordings?

Rippling says Interview Assistant permissions and recording policies can be set by role, department or location, using the same employee data that runs the rest of Rippling, and that they update as the organization changes. Its example is sales leaders seeing only sales interview recordings and executive interviews limited to the C-suite.

Does BrightHire integrate with Rippling?

Yes. Rippling announced a BrightHire integration available from the Rippling App Store, and BrightHire lists Rippling on its integrations page as of October 2026. Rippling's announcement says BrightHire joins Zoom, Google Meet or Teams interviews automatically for the departments or roles you choose, and supports single sign-on.

Does Metaview integrate with Rippling?

We could not confirm it. Rippling is not in Metaview's help center list of ATS integrations as of October 2026, and we did not find a Metaview listing in Rippling's App Store. Ask Metaview directly before planning around it.
