The main Tactiq alternatives for recruiters are Bluedot, MeetGeek, Fireflies, Notta, Otter, Metaview and Interview Signal. Tactiq transcribes by reading the video platform's live captions in Chrome, which keeps it light and bot-free but means it needs captions available in the meeting, cannot capture phone screens, and names no ATS on its integrations page as of October 2026. The alternatives below capture the call's audio instead, and several add ATS sync, phone options or scorecards.

We make Interview Signal, one of the tools below; everything about the other products comes from their own sites, linked and dated. How Tactiq itself works in an interview is covered in Tactiq for recruiting.

What does Tactiq do, and where do recruiters hit its limits?

Tactiq's Zoom guide says "Tactiq transcribes from your browser, so nothing joins the meeting as a separate participant," and that automated captions must be on; they are "off by default on many accounts," and if the host has them off you have to request captions. Its pricing is Free (10 transcripts and 5 AI credits a month), Pro at $8 per user per month, Team at $16.67 and Business at $29.17, all on annual billing. Its integrations page lists document, CRM and project tools but no ATS.

For a recruiter, that adds up to four common reasons to look elsewhere:

  • Client-hosted calls. When someone else hosts and captions are off, there is nothing to read.
  • Phone screens. A call outside a browser meeting is outside what a caption reader can see.
  • The ATS. Notes have to be copied by hand into Bullhorn, Greenhouse or wherever candidates live.
  • Volume. Ten free transcripts last about two days on a busy desk.

The capture method is the real difference. A caption reader inherits whatever the platform's captioning heard and whatever the host configured, and you find out it failed when the transcript stays empty. A tool that captures the audio itself, whether through a browser extension recording the tab or a desktop app recording your speakers and microphone, works the same way on every call you can hear. That is why most of the alternatives below describe recording, not captions, and why several of them can reach a phone screen that Tactiq never sees.

Which Tactiq alternative suits which recruiter?

Bluedot: the closest swap for a Chrome-extension user

Bluedot's extension records Meet, Zoom, Teams, Slack huddles and Webex in the browser "bot-free," also works in Edge, Brave and Arc, and has a recording-notification toggle. Its recruiters page describes structured interview notes with salary expectations and notice period. Basic is audio only with a one-hour limit per recording, which a long interview will hit. Best for: recruiters who like Tactiq's no-install feel and use Ashby. Weak spot: ATS sync needs the Business plan. More in Bluedot for recruiting.

MeetGeek: Greenhouse sync and phone-system integrations

MeetGeek offers a bot or bot-free recording through its Chrome extension and desktop recorder, a Greenhouse integration that syncs recordings, transcripts and highlights, and integrations with Aircall and RingCentral that store call recordings and summaries. Best for: in-house teams on Greenhouse whose phone screens run through Aircall or RingCentral. Weak spot: Basic and Pro cap each meeting at 2 hours. See MeetGeek for recruiting.

Fireflies.ai

Fireflies' Chrome extension records without its bot. Its integrations page lists four ATS: Loxo, Gem ATS, Workable and Ashby. Best for: recruiters on one of those four systems. Weak spot: a bot by default, which you need to switch away from for candidate calls.

Notta

Notta's desktop app records "on your device — no bot joins," and its Pro plan offers Privacy Mode, which transcribes offline on a local model. Bilingual transcription has a few free uses a month, then becomes a paid add-on. Best for: recruiters who interview in two languages. Weak spot: the free plan stops each recording at 3 minutes, and no ATS is listed. See Notta for recruiting.

Otter.ai

A familiar, inexpensive transcript. Otter's Recruiting Agent adds resume summaries, interview agendas and Greenhouse sync (Recruiting Agent). Best for: hiring managers and solo in-house recruiters. Weak spot: Teams is not named for bot-free capture.

Metaview

Built for recruiting rather than meetings in general, with ATS coverage that includes agency systems. Best for: teams that want interview notes written into the ATS automatically. Weak spot: a bot joins every video call, and phone screens go through a switchboard.

Interview Signal

A desktop app for Windows and macOS; no bot joins and no captions are needed, because it captures your microphone as the interviewer and the meeting's sound as the candidate, including phone screens taken through the computer. During the call it pins must-ask questions from the job description and suggests follow-ups; afterwards it writes a scorecard with quotes checked against the transcript and a client submittal in your template. Best for: agency recruiters who turn every screen into a submittal. Weak spots: no ATS integration, desktop only, no video recording, few public reviews, and phone screens must run through the computer.

How far do the free tiers go in a recruiter's week?

An example, not a benchmark: a recruiter running 25 half-hour screens a week, or about 100 a month, on each tool's free plan as published in October 2026.

ToolFree plan limitExample: screens covered a month
Tactiq10 transcripts a month10
Metaview25 calls a month25
Otter.ai300 minutes, 30 minutes per conversation10
MeetGeek3 hours a month6
Bluedot5 meetings in total5, once
Notta3 minutes per recording0 full screens
Interview Signal20 minutes in totalUnder 1, as a trial

The free tiers are trials. What matters is the paid plan you will actually use, multiplied by seats and twelve; our note-taker pricing guide does that for a ten-recruiter team.

Agency or in-house: which way should you lean?

  • Agency recruiters need phone screens covered and a submittal at the end. Look at tools that capture the computer's audio and write client-ready output; AI note takers for staffing agencies goes deeper, and the screen-to-submittal workflow shows the steps.
  • In-house recruiters usually care most about ATS write-back. Shortlist by your ATS first: Greenhouse points to MeetGeek, Otter or Metaview; Ashby to Bluedot, Fireflies or Metaview.
  • Hiring managers who interview a few times a month can stay on a light tool; Tactiq or Otter is often enough if you control the meeting.

Before you switch, test these on real calls

  1. A client-hosted Zoom or Teams call where you are not the host.
  2. A phone screen, end to end, counting the extra steps. Our guide to recording a phone screen covers the setups.
  3. A candidate with a strong accent or a poor line, where captions often struggle.
  4. The path from hang-up to ATS note or submittal, timed.
  5. Your notice to the candidate: whichever tool you pick, tell them at the start. This is general information, not legal advice.

Questions people ask

Why would a recruiter switch from Tactiq?

Tactiq reads the meeting platform's live captions in Chrome, so it depends on captions being available in that meeting, does not cover phone screens, and names no applicant tracking system on its integrations page as of October 2026. Recruiters switch when they run phone screens, join client-hosted calls, or want notes in an ATS.

Which Tactiq alternative also works as a Chrome extension?

Bluedot, Fireflies, MeetGeek and Notta all offer Chrome extensions that record a meeting without a bot, according to their own sites as of October 2026. Unlike Tactiq, they capture the meeting itself rather than reading captions. Bluedot's extension also works in Edge, Brave and Arc.

Which Tactiq alternative connects to an ATS?

As of October 2026, MeetGeek lists a Greenhouse integration, Bluedot documents an Ashby integration, Fireflies lists Loxo, Gem ATS, Workable and Ashby, Otter's Recruiting Agent syncs to Greenhouse, and Metaview lists a long range of ATS including Bullhorn and JobAdder. Interview Signal has no ATS integration; you paste its notes.

Is there a free Tactiq alternative good enough for daily screens?

Few free tiers cover a full recruiting week. Metaview's free Notetaker covers 25 calls a month, MeetGeek's free plan gives 3 hours a month, Otter's free plan caps each conversation at 30 minutes, and Bluedot's free plan is five meetings in total. Most recruiters screening daily end up on a paid plan.
