Zoom Phone suits recruiters whose company already runs on Zoom Workplace: one vendor then covers video interviews and phone screens. As of October 2026, every Zoom Phone plan includes call recording and AI post-call summaries, from $16 per user per month billed annually; automatic recording can play a prompt asking the candidate to press 1 to consent; and Zoom lists a Zoom Phone for Bullhorn app plus apps from JobDiva, Crelate, Ceipal, CoRecruit and Recruiterflow. It does not structure the screen, score candidates or write a submittal.

Zoom renamed its AI features in June 2026: Zoom support says the AI Companion name was retired on June 22, 2026 and the features stayed, so "AI Companion call summary" is now "Call summary with AI". Below: how Zoom Phone records and announces a candidate call, what the AI summary does, which recruiting systems connect, prices in recruiting terms, and who should pick it. Vendor facts link to Zoom's own pages, checked in October 2026.

How does Zoom Phone record a phone screen?

Zoom Phone is a cloud phone system inside the Zoom Workplace app, so there is no bot: the candidate calls or is called on a Zoom Phone number. Zoom's automatic call recording article describes what an account owner or admin can set, as of October 2026:

  • Where it applies: account, site, group, call queue, phone user or common area, with lower levels lockable from above, and inbound, outbound or both.
  • Storage: all call recordings are saved to the cloud. Admins reach every recording through the call log; users see their own automatic recordings in call history.
  • Transcripts: Zoom can transcribe recordings, shown during playback. Phone users can view transcripts for the automatic recordings they have access to. An optional setting redacts personal data from transcripts, for English content only.
  • Prerequisites: a Zoom Workplace license with Phone included, or a standalone Zoom Phone calling plan.

Users can also record ad hoc, which Zoom covers in a separate article. For recruiting, automatic recording on the recruiter's own number, with the consent prompt below, is the setting that gives every screen the same notice.

Yes. Beyond announcing the recording, Zoom Phone can ask for an answer. From the same article:

  1. Prompt before the call connects (inbound): a message only the caller hears, before they reach the recruiter.
  2. Consent options before recording starts (inbound): the caller can opt out. If they do, the call is not recorded for its whole length, even when transferred to a user with automatic or ad hoc recording, and a user cannot switch ad hoc recording on. You choose what happens on an undefined key or no answer: connect with recording, connect without it, or disconnect.
  3. "Press 1" consent (inbound and outbound): a prompt, played twice, asking the caller to press 1 to consent. If they do not press 1, Zoom tells them that staying on the call counts as consent, and the call log records the consent as passive rather than active. It is set at the account level, or the site level when multiple sites are enabled.
  4. Start and stop prompts: a disclaimer when recording starts, played to all participants or only the recording user, and another when it stops. For outbound calls, Zoom says you can only customize the prompt for automatic recordings.

Two cautions for recruiters. Whether "staying on the line" is enough agreement in an all-party consent state is a question for your counsel; the safe practice is to treat only an active press 1, or a spoken yes, as consent. And Zoom notes that anyone who joins after the prompt plays will not hear it, which matters if a hiring manager is added to a call in progress. Zoom also says call screening does not work when consent options are on. Read two-party consent states and is it legal to record a job interview, and still say a short line yourself. This is not legal advice.

What does Zoom Phone's AI call summary do?

Zoom's Call summary with AI article describes, as of October 2026:

  • Who controls it: an admin turns it on for the account, a group or users. An "Automatic call summary" setting makes it run without the user starting it.
  • What the other person hears: an admin can enable "Play a prompt to call participant when call summary has started", with audio notification and disclaimer prompts. Turn this on for candidate lines.
  • Where it goes: after the call, the summary is in the user's call history in the Zoom app or web portal, where it can be edited and emailed. Admins choose delivery: app and web portal, those plus email, or email only, which removes summaries from call history. A view-only option blocks editing and sharing.
  • What it uses: Zoom says the feature requires access to the call transcript and metadata; the article does not say a recording is required. A redaction setting for personal information applies to English content only.

A call summary is written for business calls: topics, decisions, next steps. For a screen, check pay, notice period and availability against what the candidate actually said before anything reaches a hiring manager, and delete impressions that are not job criteria; see what not to write in interview notes.

Video interviews on the same license

The plan you choose also decides what Zoom's AI does for video interviews. On Zoom's Zoom Phone pricing page, Pro Plus and Business Plus include unlimited AI note-taking and meeting summaries, while US and CA Unlimited includes three of each; AI note-taking is listed across Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, in-person meetings and other platforms. Our guide to Zoom's AI in interviews covers meeting summaries and My Notes, and recording a Zoom interview without a bot covers meeting recording.

Which recruiting systems work with Zoom Phone?

Zoom's Zoom Phone integrations overview names four CRM integrations: Salesforce, Bullhorn, Outreach and HubSpot. For Bullhorn it says users can start calls from contact records with automatic call logging, admins can log texts individually or group a conversation within 24 hours, and internal extensions are recognized so internal calls are not logged. It does not say whether call summaries or transcripts reach Bullhorn, so test that before relying on it.

A search of the Zoom App Marketplace in October 2026 found these recruiting apps marked as working with Zoom Phone:

AppBuilt byRecruiting system
Zoom Phone For BullhornZoomBullhorn
JobDiva VOIP & SMS (and a UK version)JobDivaJobDiva
Crelate for ZoomCrelateCrelate
CEIPAL for Zoom PhoneCeipalCeipal
CoRecruit for Zoom PhoneCoRecruitSeveral agency systems, through CoRecruit
RecruiterflowRecruiterflowRecruiterflow

Apps built by recruiting vendors are supported and priced by those vendors; our pages on note-takers for JobDiva and Recruiterflow cover what else connects to those systems. The Greenhouse and Lever apps in the marketplace work with Zoom Meetings, typically for scheduling interviews, not with Zoom Phone, and we found no JobAdder, Loxo or Vincere app. If your system is not listed, copy the summary into the candidate record; our AI notetaker for Bullhorn page shows a note format that works in any ATS.

How much does Zoom Phone cost for recruiters?

From Zoom's Zoom Phone pricing page, as of October 2026, per user per month. All three plans list call recording, post-call summaries, metered international calling and voicemail with transcription. The last column is example arithmetic, not a quote.

PlanBilled annuallyBilled monthlyWhat else matters for recruitingExample: five recruiters for a year, annual billing
US & CA Unlimited$16$183 AI meeting note-takings and 3 meeting summaries; local meeting recording only5 × $16 × 12 = $960
Pro Plus (Workplace Pro with Phone)$20.50$24Unlimited AI note-taking and meeting summaries; 10 GB cloud recording per license; meeting recording transcripts5 × $20.50 × 12 = $1,230
Business Plus (Workplace Business with Phone)$24.50$29As Pro Plus with 15 GB cloud recording per license and single sign-on5 × $24.50 × 12 = $1,470

For a recruiter who also runs video interviews, Pro Plus is usually the plan to price: it costs $4.50 a month more than US and CA Unlimited on annual billing and removes the limit of three AI note-takings and three meeting summaries.

What fits recruiting, and what does not?

Where Zoom Phone fits:

  • Companies on Zoom Workplace that want phone screens and video interviews in one app from one vendor, with one vendor review.
  • Teams in all-party consent states that want a press 1 consent step built into the call.
  • Bullhorn, JobDiva, Crelate, Ceipal and Recruiterflow users, who have a listed app.

Where it stops:

  • No interview structure. Nothing we found builds a question guide from a job description or tracks must-ask questions.
  • Summaries, not scorecards. The summary is not evidence against your criteria; see our scorecard template.
  • No submittal. Agencies still write the client write-up; see the submittal template.
  • Unclear ATS depth. Zoom's Bullhorn description covers call and text logging; it does not mention summaries.

Who should pick Zoom Phone?

Best for: in-house recruiters and agencies already on Zoom Workplace who want recorded, summarized phone screens with a press 1 consent step, and video interview notes on the same license. Agencies whose priority is a rich Bullhorn note should compare Dialpad, Aircall and RingCentral, all in our call recording apps comparison.

Look elsewhere if you need the screen itself structured and a scorecard and submittal at the end. Disclosure: we make Interview Signal, one alternative for that. It is a desktop app with no bot that works beside Zoom meetings and phone screens taken through the computer's audio, such as a call in the Zoom desktop app, and produces a scorecard with the candidate's own quotes and a submittal in your template; it keeps no audio file and has no ATS integration, so notes are pasted.

Questions people ask

Does Zoom Phone summarize phone screens with AI?

Yes. As of October 2026 Zoom's pricing page lists access to post-call summaries on every Zoom Phone plan, and Zoom support describes Call summary with AI, which an admin enables and can set to start automatically. The summary appears in the user's call history, where it can be edited and emailed.

Can Zoom Phone ask a candidate for consent before recording?

Yes. Zoom support says automatic call recording can let an inbound caller opt out, in which case the call is not recorded even after a transfer, and can play a Press 1 prompt on inbound and outbound calls. A caller who does not press 1 is told that staying on the call counts as consent, and the log marks it as passive consent, so recruiters should still ask for a clear yes.

How much is Zoom Phone for a recruiter?

Zoom's pricing page lists US and CA Unlimited at $16 per user per month billed annually or $18 monthly, Pro Plus (Zoom Workplace Pro with Phone) at $20.50 annually or $24 monthly, and Business Plus at $24.50 annually or $29 monthly, as of October 2026.

Does Zoom Phone integrate with Bullhorn or other recruiting systems?

Zoom lists a Zoom Phone for Bullhorn app in its App Marketplace, and Zoom's documentation says it starts calls from Bullhorn records with automatic call logging. Recruiting vendors also list Zoom Phone apps there, including JobDiva, Crelate, Ceipal, CoRecruit and Recruiterflow. The Greenhouse and Lever apps we found work with Zoom Meetings, not Zoom Phone.
