Aircall works for recruiting when your screens happen on the phone and your notes need to land in Bullhorn or JobAdder. As of October 2026 every Aircall plan records and transcribes calls, Professional adds AI call summaries, and Aircall's own integrations write a note to the candidate record after each call. It is a phone system, not an interview tool: it records calls on Aircall numbers rather than Zoom or Teams interviews, does not score a candidate against your criteria or draft a client submittal, and every plan needs at least three licenses.
Below: how Aircall captures and transcribes a candidate call, what its AI produces and on which plan, exactly what reaches Bullhorn, the consent settings a recruiter should switch on, prices in recruiting terms, and who should pick it. Every product fact links to Aircall's own site or help center, checked in October 2026. For the wider market, see our comparison of call recording apps for recruiters.
How does Aircall capture a recruiter's phone screens?
Aircall is a cloud phone system. Recruiters place and take calls on Aircall numbers, so there is no bot and nothing joins the call: the recording happens inside the phone system. An admin sets recording up per number in the Aircall Dashboard, separately for incoming and outgoing calls, with three modes, according to Aircall's call recording article:
- Start recording automatically: recording begins as soon as the call connects.
- Allow the agent to start and pause recording: the recruiter controls it from the Aircall app.
- Start automatically with agent control: recording starts on its own, but the recruiter keeps the pause and resume button.
The third mode suits recruiting best: every screen is captured unless the recruiter pauses, which is exactly what you need when a candidate says they would rather not be recorded. The same article lists rules worth knowing: a recording is not saved if it is longer than four hours, shorter than five seconds, has fewer than two participants, or is an internal Aircall call, and only admins can switch recording on. It also tells admins to make sure recording is legal in their country or region first.
What does Aircall's AI do with a candidate call?
From Aircall's transcription page and pricing page, as of October 2026:
- Transcripts on every plan. After each recorded call, Aircall creates a transcript split by speaker, usually ready in about 30% of the call's length. A 30-minute screen is ready in roughly nine minutes.
- Languages. Aircall transcribes 24 languages; seven are verified for accuracy (English, French, Spanish, German, Dutch, Portuguese and Italian). Each number can have a primary and a secondary language, which matters for bilingual desks.
- Summaries on Professional. Call summaries, key topics, sentiment and call scoring are included on Professional and available on Essentials through the AI Assist add-on.
- Live help with AI Assist Pro. The AI Assist Pro page lists live transcription, playbooks, custom call summaries, custom scorecards with auto-assignment, and automated CRM updates and follow-up emails, at $49 per user per month billed annually, on top of any plan.
- Exports are limited. Transcripts can be exported through the Aircall API one call at a time, which needs the AI Assist add-on or Professional; bulk export is not available.
AI Assist Pro's playbooks, scorecards and sentiment analysis are built to coach sales and support reps. Pointing call scoring or sentiment at candidates would be using AI to evaluate applicants, which brings in rules such as New York City's Local Law 144. Keep Aircall's AI to transcripts and summaries for candidate calls unless your counsel has reviewed it.
Which recruiting systems does Aircall integrate with?
Aircall's HR and recruiting category lists nine integrations as of October 2026: Bullhorn, Carv, JobAdder, OTYS, Recruitly, Recruit Wizard, Rippling, TalentLyft and Tool4staffing. Rippling is an HR system for user provisioning rather than an ATS. Carv's listing describes centralizing call recordings and handling admin such as candidate profile creation and ATS updates. We did not find Greenhouse, Lever, Vincere, Loxo or Crelate among Aircall's listed integrations.
What the Bullhorn note contains
The Bullhorn v4 integration is built by AOS, an Aircall certified partner, and costs nothing beyond your Aircall and Bullhorn subscriptions. Aircall's feature article and setup guide describe what happens after a call:
| Part of the note | What Aircall writes |
|---|---|
| Record | The candidate or contact matched by phone number (Phone, Work phone, Mobile, Phone 2 or Phone 3 fields) |
| Created by | The Aircall user whose email matches a Bullhorn user |
| Action | The first Aircall tag on the call, otherwise Inbound Call, Outbound call or Left message |
| Body | Call direction, the recruiter's comments, call ID, duration, team and number, tags, and a link to the call in Aircall |
| AI insights | Call summary and key topics, only if "Log AI insights" is on and the recruiter has an AI Assist license |
| Recording link | Added if "Log call recording link" is on |
Two settings matter for recruiters. "Ignore calls under 60 seconds" keeps voicemail drops and wrong numbers out of the candidate history. Duplicate handling decides what happens when two Bullhorn records share a number: log to the most recently created record, or log nothing. Agencies with many duplicate candidates should choose deliberately. The help pages do not say the full transcript is written into the note; it stays in Aircall behind the link. Our AI notetaker for Bullhorn guide compares this with Bullhorn's own options.
The JobAdder integration describes the same pattern: matching calls to JobAdder contacts and candidates, and logging call details, AI-generated insights and texts as notes.
How do recording announcements and consent work in Aircall?
Aircall gives you two tools, both set by an admin per number:
- Outbound announcement. "Play call recording announcement before connecting" plays a text-to-speech message, an uploaded file or a recording before recording starts; the recruiter is muted until it ends. Aircall warns that it starts the moment the call is answered, even by voicemail or a phone menu, so the candidate may hear only part of it or none.
- Inbound consent prompt. Aircall's consent article shows a keypad menu at the start of a call flow: key 1 to accept recording, key 2 to decline. Recording settings apply to every connected call on a number, so the key 2 branch must not ring users on a recorded number; send it to a number without recording.
Neither is a legal decision. Some states require everyone on the call to agree, and when you and the candidate are in different states the stricter rule is the safe default; see two-party consent states and is it legal to record a job interview. Say a consent line yourself at the start of every recorded screen, and pause if the candidate declines. Our comparison of recording consent features shows how other hiring platforms handle this step. This is not legal advice.
How much does Aircall cost for a recruiting team?
Published prices from Aircall's pricing page, as of October 2026. All plans require at least three licenses whatever the billing cycle; annual billing is 25% cheaper than monthly, and the page text does not state the monthly-billing price. The last column is example arithmetic, not a quote.
| Plan | Price per license | Recordings and transcripts | AI summaries | Recording access | Example: three recruiters for a year |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essentials | $30/month, billed annually | Included | AI Assist add-on (price not published) | Up to 1 year by request; 6 months in the dashboard | 3 × $30 × 12 = $1,080, before any add-on |
| Professional | $50/month, billed annually | Included | Included, with key topics and sentiment | Unlimited by request; 6 months in the dashboard | 3 × $50 × 12 = $1,800 |
| Enterprise | Custom; 25-license minimum | Included | Included | Unlimited by request; 6 months in the dashboard | Quote only |
| AI Assist Pro (add-on) | $49/user/month, billed annually | Live transcription, custom summaries, playbooks, scorecards | Not stated | 3 × $49 × 12 = $1,764 extra | |
For most agency desks the real choice is Essentials plus AI Assist, or Professional. Because the AI Assist price is not published, ask Aircall for it before deciding; if it costs more than $20 per license, Professional is the cheaper way to get summaries into Bullhorn.
What fits recruiting, and what does not?
Where Aircall fits:
- Phone-first desks: high-volume, light industrial, healthcare and trades recruiting where the screen is a call.
- Bullhorn and JobAdder agencies that want every call logged without typing, with a summary attached.
- Teams that need a shared candidate line with routing, a keypad consent prompt and text messages in one place.
Where it stops:
- No video interviews. Aircall records calls on Aircall numbers; a Zoom, Teams or Meet interview needs a separate note-taker.
- No interview structure. Nothing we found on Aircall's pages builds questions from a job description or ties notes to competencies.
- No submittal. A summary of key topics is not a client-ready write-up; see our submittal template.
- Three-license minimum. A solo recruiter pays for at least three seats.
- Audio is kept. Every transcript comes from a stored recording, so you also need a retention rule; see how long to keep interview notes.
A setup checklist for recruiters on Aircall
- Decide which numbers record. Candidate lines usually should; a client line may not need to.
- Choose "Start automatically with agent control" so recruiters can pause when a candidate declines.
- Turn on the outbound announcement, and still say your own line once the candidate is on; our consent script has wording.
- Add the keypad consent prompt to inbound candidate lines and route key 2 to an unrecorded number.
- Set each number's primary and secondary transcription language.
- Install Bullhorn v4 or JobAdder, turn on AI insights and the recording link, and switch on "Ignore calls under 60 seconds".
- Assign AI Assist licenses to every recruiter whose summaries should reach the ATS.
- Place a test call to a test candidate record and read the note before anyone screens a real candidate.
Who should pick Aircall?
Best for: agency teams of three or more who screen mostly by phone on Bullhorn or JobAdder and want a logged call with a summary on every candidate record. Compare it with the other phone systems we cover: Dialpad, which logs a transcript link to Bullhorn and also connects to Greenhouse; RingCentral; and Zoom Phone for teams already on Zoom. The step-by-step version of a single screen is in how to record a phone screen.
Look elsewhere if most interviews are on video, you work alone, or what you need after a screen is a scorecard and a submittal rather than a call log. Disclosure: we make Interview Signal, a desktop app that is one alternative there. It transcribes a phone screen taken through your computer's audio, such as a softphone call, with no bot, writes a scorecard with the candidate's own quotes and drafts the submittal in your template; it keeps no audio file and has no ATS integration, so notes are pasted into Bullhorn by hand.
Questions people ask
Does Aircall transcribe phone screens automatically?
Yes, for recorded calls. As of October 2026, Aircall's transcription page says call and voicemail transcripts are included on Essentials, Professional and Enterprise, created after each recorded call and usually ready in about 30% of the call's length. Live transcription during the call needs the AI Assist Pro add-on.
Which Aircall plan gives AI call summaries for recruiters?
Professional includes AI call summaries, key topics and sentiment as of October 2026, at $50 per license per month billed annually with a three-license minimum. On Essentials ($30 per license per month billed annually) summaries need the AI Assist add-on, whose price Aircall does not publish.
What does Aircall write into Bullhorn after a candidate call?
Aircall's help center says the Bullhorn v4 integration adds a note to the matched candidate or contact with the call direction, the recruiter's comments and tags, the call ID and duration, and a link to the call in Aircall. If the recruiter has an AI Assist license, the AI summary and key topics are added too; the help pages do not say the full transcript is written into the note.
Can Aircall play a recording announcement to candidates?
Yes. Admins can turn on a pre-call announcement for outbound calls on each number, using text-to-speech, an uploaded file or a recording, and can add a keypad consent prompt to inbound call flows. Aircall warns the outbound announcement starts as soon as the call is answered, so a candidate's voicemail or phone menu may play over it; say your own consent line as well.
Is Aircall worth it for a solo recruiter?
Usually not on its own. As of October 2026 every Aircall plan has a minimum of three licenses regardless of billing cycle, so the smallest Essentials account costs at least $90 a month billed annually. Aircall suits agency desks of three or more who live on the phone and use Bullhorn or JobAdder.
