Paycom sells itself on a single database: payroll, HR and recruiting in one system it builds itself. The flip side shows up when you look for an AI notetaker. As of October 2026 we found no interview notetaker that documents a Paycom connection, and Paycom's own applicant tracking describes templates, scheduling and mobile feedback rather than recording interviews.

So this page is not a comparison of integrations. It sets out what Paycom does natively, what we checked, and how to make notes from any outside tool fit Paycom's evaluation templates, so that hiring managers get consistent evidence without anyone retyping a transcript. If you also run Paylocity elsewhere, our Paylocity notetaker guide covers a similar situation.

What Paycom does natively

From Paycom's applicant tracking page, as of October 2026:

  • Scheduling: once you schedule a call or interview, a calendar invite is emailed to the applicant automatically.
  • Templates: predefined templates for scheduling, emails and text messages, plus evaluation and interview question templates so each candidate is assessed the same way.
  • Mobile feedback: hiring managers can review applications, leave interview feedback and score interview performance from the Paycom app.
  • Texting: candidates can text recruiters inside Paycom.
  • Records: applications, offer letters, resumes, cover letters and other documents stay on the applicant's record, and resume data is parsed into the employee profile at hire.

Paycom's Manager on-the-Go page adds that managers can add feedback to candidate files, notify recruiters and message applicants. None of this records or transcribes the conversation itself.

What about IWant?

Paycom announced IWant on July 30, 2025 as a command-driven AI engine that answers questions by voice or text from data in Paycom's single database. The announcement's examples are about time off, 401(k) data, schedules, pay changes and performance reviews. It does not mention applicants or interviews, and we found nothing saying IWant records or summarizes an interview. If a Paycom representative tells you otherwise, ask for it in writing with the release it shipped in.

What we checked for integrations

ToolWhat we found, as of October 2026
MetaviewNo Paycom page on Metaview's site and no Paycom article in its help center
BrightHireNot listed on BrightHire's integrations page
AI Interview Companion (Employ)Not among the ATS logos on Employ's integrations page
FirefliesIts integrations page lists BambooHR, Greenhouse and Lever under applicant tracking, not Paycom

Absence from a vendor's list is not proof that nothing exists, and Paycom does not publish a partner directory we could search. But no vendor we checked promotes a Paycom connection, which means any integration would be custom work to scope and maintain.

Fitting outside notes into Paycom's evaluations

Because nothing writes into Paycom automatically, the design decision is where a pasted summary goes and what shape it takes. Paycom already gives you the structure: interview question templates and evaluation templates. Use them as the skeleton for every note.

  1. Start from the evaluation template. List the criteria your Paycom evaluation scores for the role, in the same order.
  2. Set the notetaker's summary format to match. Most notetakers let you define a summary template. Mirror the Paycom criteria so each heading in the summary maps to a field in the evaluation.
  3. Paste evidence, then score. The interviewer pastes one or two quotes per criterion into the evaluation and enters the score themselves.
  4. Keep the long version out of Paycom. If someone needs the full transcript, they ask the interviewer. Paycom becomes the employee record for the person you hire, so keep the candidate file to job-related evidence.

A summary template shaped like a Paycom evaluation:

[Interview type] – [Position] – [Date] – [Interviewer]

[Criterion 1 from the Paycom evaluation]:
  Evidence: "[candidate's words]"
[Criterion 2]:
  Evidence: "[candidate's words]"
[Criterion 3]:
  Evidence: "[candidate's words]"

Not covered in this interview: [ ]
Logistics: pay expectation [ ] availability [ ] start date [ ]
Recorded with consent: [Yes / No]

Hiring managers who complete evaluations on their phone can paste from this in under a minute. Our interview scorecard template shows how to write criteria that produce useful evidence, and our guide to candidate notes in your ATS lists what to strip out before saving.

Phone screens

Paycom schedules calls and lets candidates text recruiters, but its page does not describe recording calls. For first-round phone screens, the options are a notetaker with phone capture, a phone system that records, or a desktop tool that captures audio on the recruiter's computer. Our guide to recording a phone screen compares them, and our consent script covers what to say first.

Getting hiring managers to finish evaluations

The weak point in most Paycom hiring processes is not capture but completion: the hiring manager interviews, means to write feedback, and moves on. A notetaker only helps if its output reaches the evaluation quickly. Three habits make that happen:

  • Send the summary to the interviewer within the hour. Most notetakers email a summary after the call. The manager opens it on their phone, opens the evaluation in the Paycom app, and pastes while the interview is fresh.
  • Ask for one quote per criterion, not a full summary. A manager will paste three lines on a phone; they will not edit twenty.
  • Let recruiters chase from Paycom. Paycom's mobile tools let managers notify recruiters and recruiters see the hiring picture, so an empty evaluation is visible. Use that rather than a separate tracker.

When an evaluation arrives with evidence lines rather than "good fit", the debrief gets shorter, and the record is easier to defend if a hiring decision is ever questioned.

Paycom customers often hire in several states, and a recruiter in one state may call a candidate in another. Some states require every party's consent to record a call. A spoken line at the start of every recorded interview covers you in practice, whatever the tool. Our guide to recording calls across state lines explains the rules, and the notetaker's own candidate notice should name the tool. This is not legal advice.

If someone proposes a custom integration

With no off-the-shelf connector, a vendor or consultant may offer to build one. Before agreeing, get answers to these in writing:

  • What exactly is written to Paycom: a note, a document on the applicant record, or evaluation fields?
  • Whose credentials it uses and what else those credentials can change.
  • Who maintains it when Paycom changes its system, and what happens to notes if it breaks.
  • How deletion works when a candidate asks for their data to be removed.

For most Paycom teams the paste takes about a minute per interview, which is hard to beat with custom work you then have to maintain.

A two-week pilot

  1. Pick one recruiter and two hiring managers with a mix of phone and video interviews.
  2. Build the summary template from one role's Paycom evaluation, as above.
  3. Time each paste in week one. Over two minutes means the summary is too long.
  4. Compare evaluations from the pilot with the same managers' earlier ones. Are there quotes where there used to be one-word comments?
  5. Count interviews with no evaluation at all. If that number does not fall, the problem is habit, not tooling.

What to check before rollout

CheckPass looks likeResult
Template matchEvery heading in the summary maps to a Paycom evaluation field
Scores entered by peopleInterviewers enter scores themselves; nothing is copied as a rating
Sensitive detailsHealth, family or age details are removed before pasting
RetentionRecordings in the notetaker are deleted on your candidate retention schedule
CoveragePhone screens are documented as consistently as video interviews

Standalone tools, and who each option suits

Interview Signal has no Paycom integration. It is a desktop app with no bot that captures audio on the interviewer's computer, including phone screens, and exports a scorecard quoting the candidate that you paste into the Paycom evaluation.

  • A standalone notetaker plus a templated paste: most Paycom teams.
  • Typed notes against Paycom's evaluation templates: small teams with a handful of interviews a month. Write one quote per criterion, the same way every time.
  • A custom integration: only for high volumes, after the questions above are answered.

Questions people ask

Does Paycom have a built-in AI notetaker for interviews?

Not that we could find as of October 2026. Paycom's applicant tracking page describes interview scheduling with automatic calendar invites, interview question and evaluation templates, text messaging with candidates and mobile interview feedback, but not recording or transcribing interviews.

Can IWant summarize interviews in Paycom?

We could not confirm it. Paycom's July 30, 2025 announcement describes IWant as a command-driven AI engine that answers questions from Paycom's single database, with examples about time off, pay, schedules and performance reviews. It does not mention recruiting, applicants or interviews.

Which AI notetakers integrate with Paycom?

We found none that documents a Paycom connection as of October 2026. Paycom is not on BrightHire's integrations page, Employ's AI Interview Companion integrations page or Fireflies' integrations page, and Metaview's site has no Paycom integration page. Ask any vendor that claims one to show it working in a Paycom account.

Where should interview notes go in Paycom?

Into the evaluation the hiring manager completes, using Paycom's evaluation templates, with any extra notes attached to the candidate file. Paycom says hiring managers can leave interview feedback and score interview performance from its mobile app, so a short structured summary is easy to paste there.
