Interview Signal settings: every option on the Settings screen
On this page
Interview Signal's Settings screen opens from the "Settings" button at the top of the home screen and has six panels: "Audio", "AI during interviews", "Your account" (or "Your team" on a Team plan), "Interviews on this computer", "App" and "Help". Every change saves as you make it and is kept on that computer. The microphone and AI options can also be changed in the middle of a call, from the live screen. This describes version 0.9.10, current as of October 2026; the walkthrough on the Try it page shows the screen in its "Privacy and settings" chapter at 6:54.
How do I open Settings?
- On the home screen, press "Settings" at the top right.
- Change what you need. There is no Save button; each option is stored the moment it changes.
- Press "← Roles" at the top left to go back. The chip at the top right shows the version you are running, for example "v0.9.10".
What is in the Audio panel?
- Microphone. "Default microphone" follows your system; the list shows every input device by name. Pick the headset you interview with.
- Interview language. Seventeen languages, from English to Mandarin Chinese. The note reads "The transcript follows this. Submittals are written in it too." It is the starting language for a new role and the fallback for a role without one; a saved role's own language wins. See interview languages.
- Score the candidate as the interview runs. On by default. "Off means the scorecard only fills when you press Evaluate."
What is in AI during interviews?
| Option | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Model for follow-ups and scoring | Auto | Which AI model suggests follow-ups and scores. The choices and their hints: "Auto" ("The fastest model for each job, with fallbacks."), "Cerebras · gpt-oss-120b" ("Fastest. The default for live follow-ups and scoring."), "Groq · gpt-oss-120b" ("Fast, on a second provider.") and "OpenAI · gpt-6-luna" ("Slower, writes more carefully."). |
| Dual AI — run a second model alongside | Off | Follow-ups from two models side by side and a second score beside each scorecard area, using twice the model calls. "Second model" appears when it is on. Picking the same model twice is refused: "the same model twice is one opinion." See Dual AI. |
| Flag answers that may be AI-generated | On | The private answer check. "A reason to probe, never proof. It does not change a score and is never written into the submittal." |
The panel adds "Both can be changed during a call." That happens from "AI" on the live screen, which also holds "Check technical answers", the accuracy check, a toggle that is only there.
What is in Your account or Your team?
- The facts. "Account" (or "Agency" on Team), "You" with your sign-in email (plus your role, member or admin, on Team), "Seats" such as "4 of 5 in use" (example) on Team, and "Plan". On Free and Pay as you go the plan line includes the time left, for example "12 of 20 free minutes left" (example). An overdue payment adds "payment overdue".
- One billing button, by plan. Free shows "Buy hours" and "Upgrade"; Pay as you go shows "Buy hours"; Solo shows "Manage billing"; a Team admin sees "Manage seats and billing", and a Team member reads "Ask your admin to add seats or change billing." Each opens the Billing tab of your web account in your browser. See free minutes and plans.
- "Sign out". Ends the session on this computer. Your settings and interviews stay.
What is in Interviews on this computer?
A count, such as "14 interviews saved on this computer." (example), and the promise behind it: transcripts, notes, scorecards and submittals are stored here and never uploaded; what leaves the computer is counts and durations. Two buttons:
- "Open the folder" shows the interviews folder in File Explorer or Finder.
- "Delete all local interviews" opens "Delete everything". Type DELETE to confirm, and every transcript, scorecard and submittal on this computer is removed; the app reports, for example, "Removed 14 interviews." (example). It cannot be undone, and there is no copy anywhere else.
Where your data is stored lists exactly what is kept on the computer and what reaches the server.
What is in the App panel?
- Version, Update and Token storage. Your version, whether a newer one is out, and where your sign-in is kept: "operating system keychain", or "this session only — no keychain available".
- "Check for updates". Checks now and offers "Download" if there is a newer version; see updates and versions.
- "Copy diagnostics". Copies the app log and your machine's details for a support email. "No transcript, no candidate name, no interview content."
- Window size. "−", the current percentage, "+" and "Reset", from 70% to 200%; the same as Ctrl (Cmd on a Mac) with + − 0, or Ctrl and the mouse wheel, on any screen. See keyboard shortcuts and zoom.
What is in Help?
"Take the quick tour" (six cards on how the app works), "Common questions" (the questions people ask most, answered inside the app) and "Contact support", which opens the Support tab: "Write to support" drafts an email to [email protected] in your own mail app, beside "Copy address" and "Copy diagnostics". The panel says support answers within one business day, and that billing and plan questions go to the same address.
Which settings live outside the Settings screen?
| Where | Option | Remembered? |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-interview screen | Microphone, "Where are you interviewing from?", and the role you start; "How are you speaking?" | The first three yes, offered first next time; "How are you speaking?" starts at "Video call" each time |
| Live screen, "Mic & language" | Microphone (switches at once); Interview language | Microphone yes; the language change applies to that interview only |
| Live screen, "AI" | AI model, Dual AI, second model, "Flag answers that may be AI-generated", "Check technical answers" | Yes |
| Live screen, guide and scorecard | "Tidy asked" (moves asked questions to the bottom), "Score as we go" | Yes |
The live controls guide covers the live screen's buttons.
What settings do not do
- They are per computer. A second computer keeps its own settings, and nothing in the web account sets them for a team.
- There is no setting for automatic updates or for an ATS connection; neither exists.
- Billing, seats and invitations are not changed inside the app; the buttons open the web account.
- There is no option to record video or keep audio. The app captures sound only to transcribe it.
Questions people ask
Where are the settings in Interview Signal?
Press Settings at the top of the home screen. The Settings screen has six panels: Audio, AI during interviews, Your account (Your team on a Team plan), Interviews on this computer, App, and Help. Changes save as you make them, and the back button at the top left returns to the home screen.
How do I change the microphone in Interview Signal?
In Settings, under Audio, pick a device from Microphone; Default microphone follows your system. You can also change it on the pre-interview screen, or during a call from Mic & language at the top of the live screen, where it switches at once without losing anything already said. The app remembers your choice.
Can I stop Interview Signal from scoring during the interview?
Yes. Turn off Score the candidate as the interview runs in Settings under Audio, or Score as we go on the live screen. The scorecard then fills only when you press Evaluate. It is on by default, and the app suggests leaving it on unless you find it distracting.
Does an Interview Signal admin control my settings?
No. As of version 0.9.10, settings are kept on the computer they were set on, and nothing in the web account sets them for a team. Saved roles and submittal templates are shared on a Team plan, and a role's own interview language takes priority over the language in Settings.
