ADP Workforce Now is a payroll and HR platform first, and recruiting on it takes one of two shapes. Some teams use ADP Workforce Now Recruitment, the built-in module. Many others run a separate applicant tracking system that hands hired candidates to ADP. Which shape you have decides where an AI notetaker can connect, because a notetaker attaches to the system where interviews are scheduled and feedback is written, not to payroll.
As of October 2026 we found no native notetaker in Workforce Now Recruitment, no help-center setup guide from the major interview intelligence vendors, and a handful of ADP Marketplace apps that record or sync interview content in different ways. This page sets out each one, what reaches ADP, and the workable fallback. Every vendor fact links to the page we checked.
What Workforce Now Recruitment does natively
ADP's Marketplace listing for ADP Workforce Now Recruitment describes, as of October 2026:
- Candidate Self-Schedule: candidates book their own interviews from available slots.
- ADP Assist: a job description generator enhanced by ADP Assist that drafts skill-focused job descriptions.
- Scoring: candidate scoring based on skills, education and experience, and keyword search of resumes.
- Communication: two-way text and branded email, stored in the system.
- Hand-off: native connections to onboarding, HR and payroll.
None of these record, transcribe or summarize a live phone or video interview. What a recruiter learns on a call reaches Workforce Now only if someone types it in.
ADP Marketplace apps that touch interviews
| App | What it does | What reaches ADP | Category |
|---|---|---|---|
| VidCruiter Lite | Live video interviews launched from ADP | Ratings, interview notes and recordings on the candidate profile | Video interview platform |
| Classet (Joy) | AI voice screener that calls applicants | Interview summaries and insights; recordings and transcripts linked | AI interviewer |
| Alex | AI that screens and interviews applicants | Hire-ready records with structured scorecards | AI interviewer |
| Metaview | Interview notetaker | Not documented in its help center | Notetaker; connection unconfirmed |
VidCruiter Lite: the closest thing to native
VidCruiter Lite's ADP Marketplace listing says you can schedule and launch live video interviews without leaving ADP, and that "all your ratings, interview notes and recordings" update the candidate's profile in Workforce Now in real time. It lists ADP Workforce Now Recruitment, Next Generation Recruitment and TotalSource Enhanced Talent Suite as eligible, with one-click activation. Prices are visible only after logging in.
Two caveats. First, the notes VidCruiter syncs are the ones interviewers write; the listing does not describe AI transcription or summaries, so ask before assuming it. Second, it works on interviews held in VidCruiter's own video room, so a hiring manager who calls from Teams is outside it.
Classet and Alex: AI interviewers, not notetakers
Classet's ADP Workforce Now page says its Joy agent calls applicants, conducts structured voice interviews and writes summaries back to candidate records, with recordings and transcripts linked. Classet labels the connection a basic integration supporting 2 of 10 capabilities, and ATS Sync starts at $1,995 a month. Alex's ADP page says it screens and interviews applicants, captures identity verification and structured scorecards, and pushes hire-ready records into Workforce Now.
Both replace a recruiter's first conversation rather than documenting one. That puts them closer to automated decision tools, which several states regulate; see our AI hiring laws by state overview and get legal review before deploying one. This is not legal advice.
Metaview: listed, not documented
Metaview's ADP Workforce Now page says it automatically records, transcribes and summarizes calls scheduled through ADP Workforce Now. But Workforce Now has no setup article in Metaview's help center, which documents its other ATS connections in detail, and we found no Metaview listing on the ADP Marketplace. Treat it as unconfirmed: ask Metaview how it authenticates to ADP, which interviews it can see, and whether it writes anything back. BrightHire and Fireflies do not list ADP on their integration pages.
If you run a separate ATS
Plenty of Workforce Now customers recruit in another system. Ashby's ADP Marketplace app sends hired candidates into ADP as onboarding pre-hires, with more than 30 fields. Workable's app pushes candidate data to ADP when someone is hired.
In that setup, interviews and feedback live in the ATS and only the hire reaches ADP. Choose a notetaker that integrates with your ATS, and do not expect interview notes to travel to Workforce Now; they should not, since ADP is the employee record. Our guides for Ashby and Workable cover those integrations.
Documenting interviews in Workforce Now Recruitment without an integration
For teams on the native module who want notes from phone and video interviews, the practical route is a notetaker that is not tied to ADP, plus a short structured paste into the candidate record. It covers calls from any platform, including personal calendars and mobile phones, and lets the recruiter decide what is saved. Our guide to writing candidate notes in your ATS covers what to leave out.
[Phone / video / in person] – [Requisition] – [Date] – [Interviewer]
Recommendation: [Advance / Hold / Decline]
Requirements:
- [Requirement]: [Met / Not met] – "[candidate's words]"
- [Requirement]: [Met / Not met] – "[candidate's words]"
Strengths: [ ]
Concerns: [ ]
Logistics: pay expectation [ ] availability [ ] start date [ ]
Recorded with consent: [Yes / No]
Keep it short enough to read in the candidate list. If a hiring manager needs more, link to the recording in the notetaker rather than pasting a full transcript into ADP.
Phone screens
Workforce Now Recruitment texts and emails candidates but does not describe recording calls. VidCruiter's listing is about video. For phone screens, use a notetaker with phone capture, a phone system that records, or a desktop tool that captures audio on the recruiter's computer. Our guide to recording a phone screen covers each, and our consent script gives the opening line. If you hire across several states, check the consent rules for each before recording calls.
How to choose
- You want recordings and notes inside Workforce Now Recruitment: VidCruiter Lite, if your interviews can move to its video room.
- High-volume hourly hiring with checklist screens: Classet or Alex, after legal review, knowing they replace the recruiter's call.
- You recruit in a separate ATS: a notetaker that integrates with that ATS.
- Phone-heavy recruiting on the native module: a standalone notetaker plus the paste above.
Questions to send before you buy
Most of the gaps on this page are answerable in an email. Send these to your ADP representative and to any vendor you shortlist, and keep the replies with your vendor records:
- Which ADP edition does the connection support: Workforce Now Recruitment, Next Generation, or TotalSource?
- Does it read interviews scheduled in ADP, or only interviews created in the vendor's own tool?
- What exactly is written back to ADP: a note, an attachment, a link, ratings, or nothing?
- Are notes typed by the interviewer, generated by AI, or both, and can the interviewer edit before they sync?
- Does it capture phone calls, and how is the candidate told the call is recorded?
- When a candidate's record is purged in ADP, is the recording deleted in the vendor's system too?
The third question settles most decisions. If the honest answer is "a link", the hiring manager still has to leave ADP to read anything, and a pasted summary may serve them better.
What to check before choosing
| Check | Pass looks like | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Integration claim | The vendor shows, in a live Workforce Now account, where output lands | |
| Which ADP product | The app supports your edition (Workforce Now Recruitment or Next Generation) | |
| AI or human notes | You know whether synced notes are typed by interviewers or generated | |
| Coverage | Phone, video and ad hoc calls are all captured or documented | |
| Retention | Recordings outside ADP are deleted on your candidate retention schedule |
Standalone tools, and who each option suits
Interview Signal has no ADP integration. It is a desktop app with no bot that captures audio on the interviewer's computer, including phone screens, and exports a scorecard quoting the candidate that you paste into the candidate record in Workforce Now.
- VidCruiter Lite: teams that want live video interviews recorded inside ADP.
- Classet or Alex: high-volume teams wanting AI to run the first screen.
- Your ATS's notetaker: teams that recruit outside ADP and sync hires in.
- A standalone notetaker plus a paste: most teams on the native module, given how few integrations are documented.
Questions people ask
Does ADP Workforce Now have a built-in AI notetaker for interviews?
Not that we could find as of October 2026. ADP's Marketplace listing for Workforce Now Recruitment describes candidate self-scheduling, a job description generator enhanced by ADP Assist, candidate scoring and two-way text, but not recording or summarizing a live interview.
Which ADP Marketplace app records live interviews into Workforce Now?
VidCruiter Lite. Its ADP Marketplace listing says you can schedule and launch live video interviews from ADP Workforce Now Recruitment, and that ratings, interview notes and recordings update the candidate's profile in real time. Prices are shown only after logging in to the Marketplace.
Does Metaview integrate with ADP Workforce Now?
Metaview's website has an ADP Workforce Now page saying it records, transcribes and summarizes calls scheduled through ADP Workforce Now. ADP Workforce Now is not in Metaview's help center list of ATS setup guides as of October 2026, so ask Metaview how it connects and what it writes back before relying on it.
We use a separate ATS that syncs to ADP. Where should the notetaker connect?
To the ATS. Apps such as Ashby and Workable on the ADP Marketplace push candidates into ADP Workforce Now when they are hired, so interviews, feedback and any notetaker output live in the ATS. Pick a notetaker that integrates with that ATS rather than with ADP.
